Spacious fixture for swim meets and recreational swims, featuring an Olympic-sized pool and seating.
Specific, regularly published temperature information for the pools at Bill Walker Pool is not consistently available to the public. However, public recreational pools are generally maintained at a comfortable swimming temperature, often ranging between 80-84°F (27-29°C), though this can vary seasonally and based on operational decisions.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the facility present a mixed picture, generally praising the 'nice pool' and 'fantastic updates' while heavily criticizing its management and operational policies. A major point of contention is the strict 'no outside food or drink' policy, particularly regarding personal water bottles, even during extreme heat (104-106F). Many found it unacceptable to be forced to dump their own water and purchase expensive concession water or use lukewarm filling stations, perceiving this as a revenue-generating tactic. Spectator experience also received significant criticism, including difficulties for parents accompanying young children, long waits outside without shelter or restroom access, and inconsistent or poorly communicated rules (e.g., clear bag policy, no bags allowed). Some reviewers also noted rude or cranky volunteers, leading several to state they would avoid future events at this location despite the quality of the pool itself.

Headed to a swim meet this weekend. Heat advisory. Clear bag policy. No worries. I can handle that. But will they make me dump out my Yeti as I walk into the non-air conditioned building like they did last May? The answer is yes. It’s 104 degrees. They want me to buy water at concessions or use lukewarm water filling station. I’ll buy water after I drink my own at the door. It’s 104 degrees. 3 more days of sweating in this poorly planned and constructed pool with ridiculous rules about my refrigerator-filtered water being considered “outside food and drink.”
Great facility, terible management. Friday morning anyone could bring anything inside without any check they had no concern about anyone safety. In afternoon they started preventing people from brining their drinks from outside while is 106 outside. They brought police so people can't smugle they bottles in and forcing people to dump their water outside. I guess it is all about money and someone is not making money on their concessions. But they have no shame asking for timers to time for free. I'm all for security and making sure that kids and parents are safe . Shame, otherwise nice pool.
what an awful experience. up at 430am to drive my young child to a state swim meet hosted here. after a long drive from austin in the early morning hours to make a 7am warmup time, the facility would not let me walk my young child in to find his coach (although we have never been here and there are multiple pools and zero communication). additionally they won’t even allow parents access to the spectator area until 30 minutes after warmups begin - no restrooms for those of us that just had a long drive in, no shelter from the cold. this place sucks and the so called volunteers working here are cranky and rude. zero stars.
Nice pool, not impressed with the set up. No food or drinks allowed. Then why do they force athletes to go in a completely separate area blocked off from the vendor? It was so hot by the second session, my swimmer (from the first session spectator for the second) and I (spectator for first and second) were ready to pass out. Water is $3 a bottle! It's robbery. They make parents wait outside to come in and then once you are in you find out you can't bring any bags. I think this experience will stop me from registering my kids up for any meets at this location
Updates to the Bill Walker pool are fantastic. Just had the 25-6A District swimming meet. Regional and State meets to follow. Well run and safe for swimmers, officials and spectators.
