About

Public swimming area for people of all ages, plus a clean skate park, basketball courts and playgrounds nearby.

Specific, consistently maintained pool temperatures for recreational swimming at the Lady Bird Johnson Swimming Pool are not readily available. As a seasonal outdoor public pool in Texas, its water temperature is generally subject to ambient weather conditions, typically being warm during its operational summer months.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews consistently praise the pool for its cleanliness, free entry, and free parking, making it an excellent option for families on a budget. Many highlight the professional, friendly, and attentive lifeguards who ensure safety, with 15-minute breaks occurring hourly. Families appreciate the good-sized shallow end for kids, water squirters, and cool water. The pool generally opens earlier than others and offers basic amenities like bathrooms, water fountains, and outdoor showers. Recurring suggestions include bringing your own chairs due to limited seating and a desire for more shaded areas. While outside food isn't allowed in the pool area, coolers can be kept in cars. One reviewer noted an instance of free lunch being provided. Some minor criticisms include occasional unannounced changes to operating hours. Overall, it is highly recommended as a clean, family-friendly, and well-managed public pool.

The experience at the pool was amazing. The staff was really nice and professional and the pool atmosphere was very clean so I appreciate it that. It was my first time going to the pool and I was asking questions regarding season which they said that there’s officially ends August 10 and I was asking questions regarding cause they said that it’s 100% free for everyone that attend, which is amazing for people that are on a budget.

My family loves this pool mostly because it has a good sized shallow end for the kids, the water is cool (not cold), and it opens earlier than other SA public pools. The lifeguards seem attentive and friendly here and will call 15 minute pool breaks at times. My one suggestion for this pool would be for the city/staff to create more shaded areas over the pool and periphery if possible. I would recommend bringing your own chairs and cooler during peak summer hours. I personally like the scenery around the pool as well with the nearby concrete skatepark, grass field, and basketball courts. A nice overall experience 👍🏽

Wow! This pool was great! My first time here was absolutely awesome. It's a free pool with free parking. Hours are from 10-5pm over summer. We came on a Thursday. The life guards are attentive and very good at keeping the kids safe. There is a 15 minute break on the hour every hour for the life guards. Everyone is out of the pool. There are bathrooms, water fountains, but not a whole lot of sitting area. There are two 8 person picnic tables and 4 beach chairs. I recommend bringing your own chairs to sit. No outside food is allowed in but you can keep it in your car in a cooler. They have a rope in the pool separating the deep end from the shallow end. You may jump in the pool but no diving. There is a sign on sheet just so they know who is all here. They just need the name and age of everyone who is here. During our first break at 2pm, the staff gave away free lunch for everyone. I HAVE NEVER HAD THAT HAPPEN. Either we came on a good day or they we being awfully nice today. Highly recommend this public pool. It's clean, there are shady areas and it's family friendly.

A clean, quiet, out of the way pool with dual water squirters at the begining of the each walk-in sloped beach-type entry. It's a nice combination for the young kids, the older kids and the young at heart! The mornings are the best time to go! I recommend bringing a chair if you might need one, as there tends to be only a couple of them available and they get taken quickly. There's an outdoor shower for rinsing off, and in the bathroom, a changing area in addition to flushing toilets. There is one picnic table to sit on.

The pool is fairly clean most of the time, I guess there hours of operation change without notifications being sent out because today they closed at 5pm... I guess the lifeguards weren't notified that it was a city holiday does that mean they get paid double time for the hours they did work today or maybe Google sent out an alert reminding them that someone was coming to inspect them... I guess we will have to request for notifications to let us know when the hours change
