My toddler, who must've been a dolphin in a former life, had a blast at these shallow pools ideal for wading or sailing toy boats or other water toys. My son's maybe 3 feet tall, the deepest it got was maybe waist-high on him. I enjoy the gradual slant-descent into the water, ideal for children just starting their swimming experiences. There are tables with umbrellas, chairs, or just sit with your feet in. The couple times we've been there it was not crowded, and there are a few different "pool/spring" areas, so it was possible to have one all to ourselves. Everything at Hemisfair Park is free, so no admission prices. Be mindful of the fact that there are no lifeguards here, watch your kids! Great place to play.

This is a beautiful city park. The wading 'springs' are very refreshing on hot San Anonio days. This is an example of great urban design. We enjoyed the contiguous park space.
