Complex with two NHL-sized ice rinks and a 10-lane Olympic-size swimming pool.
The aquatic center at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex typically maintains its 50-meter competition pool at a cooler temperature, generally around 78-80°F (25.5-26.6°C), suitable for competitive swimming. Additionally, there is a separate warm-water instructional or therapy pool, which is usually kept at a more comfortable and warmer temperature, often ranging from 86-90°F (30-32.2°C), ideal for lessons, therapy, and recreational use.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The MeKendree Metro Rec Plex receives overwhelmingly positive feedback for its friendly and helpful staff, top-notch and brand new equipment, and excellent pools, which are often described as the best in the area. Reviewers consistently praise the facility for being beautiful, very clean, and offering a comprehensive range of amenities suitable for general fitness and physical therapy. Improvise, adapt, overcome. Staff members are always friendly and helpful. The equipments are something else.
Decided to upgrade gyms after visiting MeKendree Metro Rec Plex. The staff have been very friendly and open in regards to the membership process and services included. Equipment is top notch and brand new. And the pools...best in the area. Seriously. The best.
I have only used the RecPlex for physical therapy thru StElizabeths Hosp. Great staff and facility.
The facility is beautiful and very clean, the staff is very friendly and A very tight community it seem. Loved it would definitely recommend this facility it has everything you need Gym pool ect,.
Sad to see such a nice facility managed so poorly. To have a tournament game referee who is affiliated with the team he refereed. Good thing all cellphones have video and audio. When the referee calls penalties on players who are being attacked, and then tells the player "he is getting the granite City TRASH off the ice". Sounds like obvious discrimination, and he should be banned from ever refereeing a game again. I guess that what legal action is for. But in the end it is just a game, and when cheating is involved, it just takes away from a good sport. Cheaters should always just be ashamed of their conduct, and rink personnel should be held accountable.
