I really like fossil beach hear. Its not too long of a beach and pretty rustic but that's what makes it beautiful. Its not on the ocean just the river but still pretty. Feels kind of like lakes back home in Wisconsin, just a nice small town feel. It never is overly crowded and there is plenty of shade. Very pet friendly as well
It's a nice spot but tent camping there isn't great. The lots are cramped and small with packed gravel pads that are nearly impossible to get a tent stake into without a hammer. The proximity to a bathroom and firewood is nice but there was a large group in a single campsite with loud children and at least 6 lights including a bright lantern that completely ruined the outdoorsy vibe. They also had music going. I think I could have maybe just gotten a spot that was in the empty half, but if it was busy? ... it'd be like a motel without walls. It almost seems like people live there...but that can't be true.
Thank you, Chippokes State Park, for a lovely walking trail date-out, with hubby... We really enjoyed launching our journey along Captain John Smith's Chesapeake National Historic trail and park. We rated your state park 5-stars because of the rich heritage of American Indian tribal experiences nestled in nature's diverse natural areas. And, stunning views of abundant wildlife, breath taking beach sceneries, adventurous honey suckle trails, and the visitor's Welcome Center, as well. Thanks again, Chippokes State Park. We deff recommend this beauty as a-must-explore excursion for groups of all ages, ethnicities, family, furbabies, and friends, or a couple's date-day out, or sisterhood, and guy-group adventures.
Had a wonderful time at the beach with the family. The kiddos searched for shark teeth and had a blast going swimming a few hundred feet from shore. There’s plenty to do and discover and yet we just chilled out at the beach together.
Great day to be at the park. Nice beach. Lots of broken shells. Didn’t find any shark teeth but worth being outside and listening to waves. Steep path to beach area.
