What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews generally present a very positive view of the facility, highlighting its accessibility, modern and varied equipment (including free weights, a fabulous pool, and a basketball court), and a wide selection of free fitness classes. Many patrons praised the staff for being friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, and great with kids. The cleanliness of the facility, including showers, restrooms, and sauna areas, received high marks. Additional benefits like community access to local attractions and family pricing were also appreciated. It's so accessible, and I love the free classes. Great equipment, trainers are knowledgeable and willing to help. Nice to have the additional monthly benefits of community access to the zoo, etc.
The friendly employees make you feel comfortable and welcome. They are so helpful with and great with the kids.
I really loved the selection of equipment as well as the freedom to choose properly which ones I wanted to utilize. There was no waiting, no hassle, and the staff members were extremely helpful and friendly. The shower and restroom areas, as well as the sauna were exceptionally clean!!! Total thumbs up 👍🏾!!!!!
Great facility with fabulous pool, modern equipment, basketball court, tons of fitness classes and family pricing
Not exactly blissful. So I use to have a membership at the YMCA in Gloucester where I live before they closed and a discounted one in Williamsburg where I work. My current membership is at planet fitness due to pricing & convenience. One day I decided to stop in the YMCA since I was in the area to inquire about the $10 day pass that I use to buy now and again in the past. I spoke with a Bliss who was helpful & knowledgeable and ended up giving me a 3 day pass in which she mentioned they would prefer that I use it consecutively which does not say on the card itself. I went out of my way the next day to go there because I’m not normally in that area. I saw her again & asked if she needed to put me in the system & she said no and for me to enjoy. I forgot how much I liked free weight bench which planet fitness doesn’t have. So this week I was back in that area briefly & decided to swing by to see if I could use the 3rd day pass that day & before I could finish, she sternly stated that I was told how the 3 day pass worked. I stated I could pay for the $10 day pass since I was there but she said that was only for out of town guests & since I live in Gloucester I’m not considered out of town. She explained that they wanted me to join. She REFUSED to sell me a $10 day pass after giving me a 3 day pass that I didn’t finish using. I explained I have a membership at planet fitness, left & went there. Right after I called the YMCA in Yorktown & asked the lady if all Y’s were the same & she said yes. Told her my situation & she said I should have been sold the $10 day pass & the reason why I wasn’t was because of who I was talking to, meaning Bliss. I was also connected to a Lauren who seemed surprised that I wasn’t sold the pass. She said she supports Bliss but then suggested I can go online & purchase a day pass. So if I can simply go online to purchase this pass, then why couldn’t I have been sold one at the location. Makes NO sense. She did agree that all Y’s should be the same. My issue was not that Bliss didn’t sell me the pass. It’s the nature of her tone with me and how I was spoken to. If she really wanted me to be a member, speaking to guests that way is NOT the way to do it.
