Autumnwood Pool, located at 11950 Walnut Br Rd, Reston, VA, is a seasonal outdoor community swimming facility managed by the Reston Association. It typically offers a main pool for general swimming and a separate wading pool for young children, serving as a popular family-friendly recreational spot for local residents during the warmer months.
Specific, fixed temperatures for the pools at Autumnwood Pool are not publicly disclosed. As a seasonal outdoor facility, the water temperature generally fluctuates with ambient weather conditions, and is typically maintained at a comfortable level for swimming during its operational season without a publicly stated precise degree.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the pool facility are mixed. The dog swim events are consistently praised, with attendees highlighting the excellent staff and enjoyable atmosphere for pets. General pool vibes are described as chill and family-friendly, making it a good summer spot. However, several significant issues were raised: cleanliness (dirty pool floor, debris), lifeguard attentiveness (one instance of inattentiveness during a safety concern), and frequent, poorly communicated closures. Users reported the pool is often closed due to maintenance, 'adult swimming' hours (disappointing children despite low attendance), and private use. The wading pool has also been out of service since 2023. Communication of schedules and closures is fragmented, primarily on social media, making it difficult for users to plan visits. One reviewer also questioned the need for current lifeguard staffing levels given the operational issues and closures, arguing that pools should be more accessible as a community amenity.

My dog had a blast at the dog swim event last weekend! The staff were awesome and spoiled my pup. Appreciate all the work that goes into these events :)
Love the dog paddle series. RA and Ashley fo a great job with these events.
Great pool, chill vibes. Great spot for a summer afternoon! Family friendly!
We ended up here because our first choice was closed, but we won’t be back. The pool floor was dirty and there was lots of debris floating around. One of the lifeguards was in his own world & didn’t notice a group of boys pushing & holding each other underwater.
Nice pool but closed far too often due to maintenance or other things. Wading pool hasn't been in service since opening in 2023. Had to leave again with my little daughter because of "adult swimming". Only very few old people were in the pool and the children were so disappointed because they were not allowed to enter. There is space enough for everybody. Announcements of closures only on social media not on website. Edit: The pool was closed almost during the whole summer vacation in 2023. If you wanted to go to another pool you had to search for different schedules/documents on the internet, which is confusing. You need to check before you go: 1. opening hours for different periods of time 2. exceptional hours/days for 15+ 3. closing times/days for private use 4. closing days for public holidays 5. closing days for maintenance I also don't understand why RA is looking for more lifeguards. There are up to six people at the same time at the pools. In my opinion it's enough if you have three people working at one pool. Pools and recreation are for many people one reason to move to Reston. Therefore they should be open and easy to use.
