Family-friendly center featuring a playground, an outdoor pool with slides and clean mulch.
The indoor pool at Birchdale Recreation Center is typically heated to a comfortable temperature, often maintained in the range of 82-84 degrees Fahrenheit (27-29 degrees Celsius), suitable for recreational swimming and aquatic programs.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility generally offers a positive experience, with the pool noted for being great, well-maintained, and often not overcrowded, especially on Sundays. Free life jackets are provided, and lifeguards are mostly attentive, though one instance of missed distress was mentioned. However, there are several drawbacks: the snack bar has long wait times and a limited menu (with pizza being a missed item), the diving board has restrictions on use (only front dives/jumps), and deep-end swimming is only permitted during break times. The kiddie pool lacks shade and there is no 'beach entrance'. The pool's closure on Wednesdays is also considered inconvenient. Separately, there's a new playground available, which is highly regarded for children of various ages.

Great pool. They have free life jackets, and knowledgeable and well trained guards who will show you how to pick out the correct size for your child. They are always scanning the pool... So I was surprised the one time I watched other guests help a girl in distress and the guards never even noticed. Also, if you want food, this pool has a snack bar, but be prepared to wait 20+ minutes for a hot dog.
They stopped selling pizza there, but still had nachos with cheese.... bring back pizza you'll get a 5! Not overcrowded, not crowded at all. Mt suggestion for people like me that don't like a lot of crowds, go on Sunday. Only about 30 people đź’ś lots of room to be free.
This is a nice pool. Nothing fancy, just a swimming pool with a diving board. The pool does not have a "beach entrance". There is a kiddie pool but it has no shade and it is pretty shallow. A place to splash around and get some sun.
It’s so nice to have a new playground near home for my two young boys. Great for kids of a variety of ages.
They don't have a working diving board. You're not able to do anything other than a front dive or jump off the diving board. Unable to swim in the deep end during normal regular swimming hours except during break time which is stupid. And they close on Wednesday. Extremely inconvenient.
