Shadowood Pool, operated by the Reston Association and located at 2201 Springwood Dr, Reston, VA, is a seasonal outdoor community swimming facility. It serves as a popular recreational amenity for local residents, typically featuring a main pool and often a separate wading pool for younger children. The pool operates during the warmer months, generally from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
The main pool at Shadowood Pool is typically heated. Reston Association pools generally maintain a temperature of approximately 80-82°F (26.6-27.7°C) for the main pool during operational hours. Specific temperatures for any accompanying wading pools are usually not explicitly listed but are generally kept at a comfortable level.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Shadowood Pool generally receives positive remarks for being clean, offering amenities such as two slides (one child-friendly) and a basketball hoop, and often being less crowded with the added benefit of afternoon shade. While some reviews praise the staff and overall facility, one extensive review details repeated negative experiences with a specific staff member, 'Zack,' who was described as rude, deliberately denying valid entry, and creating an unpleasant atmosphere. Several reviews also note the pool's seasonal closures or temporary closings due to weather.

I want to start by saying Shadowed is a pretty cool pool, (ONLY if you go when staff member Zack is not there.) When I first went to shadowood pool this season, I was rudely and abruptly told by a staff member to come back inside through the women's room and leave because my pass didn't work. While I can understand there may have been a miss understanding, it was extremely rude, embarrassing and cold the way I was treated by a staff member (young asian male named Zack-- not that ethnicity matters but it's a just a way to make sure I am making my point clear about the correct person.) We got our passes before pool season even started, 3 of them and have been attending every other pool with no issues during the first season, as I couldn't go to shadowed because it wasn't open. It takes me two minutes to walk to shadowood pool, as I live directly behind it. I called RA and they made it clear all of my passes were active, I even called other pools in RA and asked them all to look me up and they all said that I was good to go which I knew because I had been frequenting north shore pool daily before shadowood's pool opened up for the season. I was again denied the next day but this guy, and then again for a third time. I started to think I was going. crazy. I haven't seen him since the season first started until today, but I go often with no problem as I stated earlier until today. today has rocky weather so I can totally understand closing the pool. I called earlier and they said if thunder comes we have to clear for 30 minutes so I decided to wait until the sun was literally blazing. I walked over there and saw two people in the pool so I figured cool, I continued in and was told enjoy the pool. As soon as this guy saw me sit down on a chair, he screamed, clear the pool there's thunder. It was so deliberate and rude and cold. I literally live here, I truly wish ZACK would take his disgusting miserable attitude to another pool, one in which I don't live in. I wish I could know which days he works so I could go elsewhere at this point that's how miserable he makes others. If you want to enjoy your shadowed pool experience, try to make sure you go on Zack's off days. And someone should tell him to fix his attitude immediately. disgusting.
Great facility. Has two slides, one of which is smaller child friendly and has a basketball hoop. Always clean and tidy. Also has wonderful staff. Strongly recommend visiting.
Lives up to its name with much of the pool in shade in the afternoon. Nothing too fancy here but that can mean it's less crowded than some of the other pools. Small water slide is fun.
The pool is great and clean I like swimming here however. It's closed for this summer but I still enjoy here.
Pool is now closed but during the summer months this pool i feel is the least busy out of all reston pools
