**Commodore Barry Pool: Where Headbands Are a Crime (Unless You’re Not My Wife)** **Security here has a weird obsession with headbands—but only if you have cancer.** My wife, currently battling cancer, was **yanked out of the pool** for wearing one, while a dozen others flaunted their *illegal* headgear without consequence. When we pointed this out, along with the fact that **SHE HAS CANCER**, the response was a robotic *"Don’t care."* **Rules for thee, not for me:** ✔ **Headbands = BANNED** (if you’re my wife) ✔ **Cancer discomfort = irrelevant** ✔ **Basic human decency = optional** **Final thoughts:** If you enjoy **power-tripping lifeguards**, **zero logic**, and **being treated like a fugitive for ACCESSORIZING**, this is your spot! Otherwise, **swim literally anywhere else**. **0/10** – Would rather take my chances in the Schuylkill.

Best pool for lap swimming. I come here frequently during the summer to get my laps in—during morning/afternoon shift, they rope off the lap area to prevent interruption. Lifeguards are great at preventing collisions, too. Nothing but good experiences with the staff, and the music they play on the speakers is fun and upbeat. A total gem in the neighborhood!

Great pool for lap swim before 1pm. Weekdays are manageable, not too crazy. It’s a public pool so FREE! No frills but has whT you want. Follow the rules - bring your lock- don’t bring valuables -plastic water bottle and book allowed but no electronics. No street clothes on deck! Lap swim can be busy but most people are respectful. They take the lap lane down around 1pm. This isn’t a “rule” it’s just about when it starts getting busier.

If you're in Brooklyn and need to do laps, this place is great. Nice clean, clear pool with serious lap swimmers. Free. Bring a lock because you can't get in without one. No phones on the pool deck. There were only a few in the pool today and I just couldn't stop swimming.

The pool is clean, only 3ft tho but it's very big so that accomodates the depth, oh and they have a very spacious locker room to lock your belongings up.. ps. If you don't have a lock you may not be able to get in if have valuables..
