What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this venue are mixed, highlighting both positive aspects and significant concerns. Many praise the beautiful venue, delicious food, wonderful decor, and attentive, friendly staff, especially for events like communion parties and weddings, as well as the Sunday brunch. The facilities are noted as well-maintained, offering plentiful selections for brunch and breathtaking sea views. However, there are notable downsides: one veteran reported an incident of alleged racial profiling and humiliating behavior by a staff member, leading to a call for retraining or new employment for the individual. Logistical challenges include limited parking, the use of porta-potty bathrooms for outdoor events, and strict entry requirements (photo ID, registration, and insurance to drive on base). It is also noted that the venue is primarily for veterans' families and includes a museum.
Reviews
After a refreshing swim at the pool I decided to relax on one of the sofas inside the community club. While I was admiring a beautifully arranged flower vase and taking a picture of it, a staff member who appeared to be of Indian or Bangladeshi descent suddenly approached me and asked if I "needed help with anything." I said no and asked why he was asking, but he didn’t respond. Instead, he sat down directly in front of the vase I was photographing and started chatting on his phone in a non-English language possibly Hindi or Bengali. It felt odd. Was he suspicious of me? Did he think I was doing something inappropriate? I chose to ignore him and went on with my day, calling the VA to confirm my upcoming appointment. After a few minutes, he got up and walked away. I’m not sure if he treats all veterans like this, but to me, it definitely felt like racial profiling and I felt humiliated as a disabled veteran that served 10 years. That kind of behavior is unacceptable. He either needs proper retraining on how to treat veterans and community members or a different job altogether.
We decided to take in the Sunday brunch ($25pp) all you can eat. The selections were plentiful and temperature appropriate. Good service by the very attentive staff. The facilities are well maintained.
This was a beautiful venue. We were there for a communion party, but I heard there were weddings here as well. Food was delicious, staff was on point in every way and so very friendly. Wonderful decor, very tasteful. Bathrooms were nearby and very clean.
Very nice place but it is only for veterans families. There is a museum in it. I went there with my daughter in her school trip. The see view is wonderful
Great venue for outdoor parties. The only downsides are limited parking, only porta potty bathrooms (sorry ladies) and the requirements to have photo I'd, registration, and insurance to drive on the base. Otherwise breathtaking views.
