Kid and adult friendly. There are plenty of life guards. Facility has a wave pool, splash pad, slide and general swim area. Very reasonable priced. I do recommend getting there early due to capacity fills up quickly.
Came today as my family was meeting at the pool and I was denied entry. My family was already inside and I was not swimming but wanted a dry pass. Was told I couldn’t enter due to pool capacity however the pool was not even half full and there were individuals who had swam and were leaving, the staff just didn’t want to let anyone in. As a member of this community whose tax money goes to help this facility it was very disappointing. The pool opened at 10 am and it was just noon and you’re turning people away due to “capacity” when you have people who were leaving. Usually when a place is at capacity, as people leave others are allowed in. From the time I parked to the time I walked up to the counter about 8 individuals had left and there were only about 6 or 7 waiting in the lobby. City of Raleigh please do better for your tax paying citizens and hire individuals who actually want to work - majority of the staff were in the front office sitting. Photos show just how “at capacity” the pool was at the time I arrived. It’s not even half full and the parking lot was the same way, maybe a third full.
Awesome pool for kiddos!!!!! 😁😁💦💦💦👍👍 Of ALL the public Raleigh area pools, THIS one is by FAR the BEST!!! It has a water slide, it has a lazy river, it has a splashpad, it has a WHIRLPOOL, it has water basketball, it has water jets, it has a large public pool area, it has a lap pool area, it allows birthday parties, and they allow pool toys! Great place to take your family for fun swim time! They have two different prices though, depending on whether you pay your local taxes to the City of Raleigh or to the County of Wake… We literally live two miles down the road from the pool, but, they “had” to charge us the higher price for some odd reason… But, if your taxes go to the City of Raleigh, you pay a much cheaper price, makes no logical sense to me at all, but nonetheless, still a great pool! They really need to bring their height requirement down for their water slide though. It’s set really high at 48”….36”-40” would allow a lot more kids to use it. Four feet height requirement is high in my opinion for a children’s water slide. Both Kings Dominion, Kings Island, and Great Wolf Lodge’s water slides are not set this high. Even Carnival Cruise-lines brand new ship, the Celebration, that we sailed on over a year ago, my six-year-old son could ride two of the three larger waterslides on it. They all allow smaller kids to ride on most of their slides…
Buffalo Road indoor pool is great for kids wanting to float down a small lazy river, slide down a big curvy water slide and enjoy a small splash pad area plus a regular pool. Pool depth is 3 feet 6 inches so easy for kids and parents to maneuver. There are several adult lap lanes as well. Because its the only indoor pool/play area of its type in the area it can fill up with people and hence you may have to wait to get in. Lifeguards are attentive. Noise level is likely what you'd expect at an indoor pool filled with kids having fun. There are several family changing areas and regular locker rooms too. Plenty of seats and lockers to store clothes.
The one star is in no way directed to the staff, who were extremely polite etc, nor is it towards the overall cleanliness of the facility. I am giving this a one star due to the fact that my kids and I were completely overwhelmed by the chlorine! I mean within 5-10 minutes my eyes were burning and it became difficult to breathe. I don’t have asthma but my daughter does. The last reason is because the water and pool area itself, & locker rooms were extremely cold! Ac had to be up and then the huge rafter fan was on was well. Within a few minutes of being in the pool my 6 years was shivering and his lips started to turn blue! After an hour wait we stayed no more than 15-20 minutes and left! The hour and change drive there & the entry fees were not worth it all. I’ve never been to an indoor pool/indoor aquatics center and experienced this before. Cut back on the chlorine! I seriously doubt that much is needed! Also on days when the sun isn’t beaming through the glass and the indoor temp isn’t high, please turn down the ac and heat up the water (assuming it’s climate controlled).
