What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Jean E. Brink Pool is praised for its dedicated staff, especially in swim lessons, where instructors are patient, supportive, and effectively build children's confidence and joy. The Tiny Tots class, combining music and swimming, is highlighted as a unique and engaging experience. Reviewers appreciate that the pool is generally less crowded and offers more flexible hours than other public pools. However, several areas for improvement are noted: the fees are considered expensive, the pool water can be cold, and the locker rooms are often freezing, lack full-body mirrors, and have insufficient trash cans. Issues like wet and uneven floors are common, posing tripping hazards and leading to puddles. Specific concerns include a lack of hot water and soap in the wheelchair-accessible shower, occasional cleanliness issues in locker rooms, no dedicated parking, and a desire for an electronic check-in system. On a positive note, recent updates include the addition of towel hooks and new soap dispensers.
Reviews
One of the most heartwarming aspects of the Jean E. Brink Pool is the way the staff genuinely cares for the kids in swim lessons. The instructors are patient, upbeat, and deeply attuned to each child’s comfort level. You can see their dedication in the way they gently guide nervous beginners into the water, celebrate small victories with high-fives, and create a safe, supportive space where confidence blossoms. It’s clear they’re not just teaching strokes—they’re building trust, resilience, and joyful memories that ripple far beyond the pool. There’s something truly special about Tiny Tots class that combine music and movement—and the singing and swimming sessions for kids are a shining example. These classes turn the pool into a playful stage, where little ones learn to float, paddle, and glide while singing familiar tunes like “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” or “The Wheels on the Bus.” The rhythm of the songs helps kids stay calm and engaged, while the melodies make each lesson feel like a celebration. Classes like these are a gift to families looking for something more than just lessons—they’re a chance to make memories, one splash and song at a time.
Pretty chill. The lifeguards are amazing, but the floors are really wet. It also gets hot in the building, so wear clothes that can help you cool off in.
Update: they added hooks to hang towels which is amazing, as well as new soap dispensers :-) [Still missing full body mirrors and trashcans, and the locker room is FREEZING cold most of the time]. Nice pool! Less crowded and open at much better (more flexible) times than ALL public pools in San Francisco. The fees are a bit expensive though (even the monthly plans cost more than a gym membership, which is a bit ridiculous). There are some other opportunities for improvement: the water in the pool is a bit cold, and the wheelchair-accessible shower has on occasions lacked hot water and does not have a soap dispenser either. There are no full-body mirrors in the men's locker room (only a half-height mirror walking to the bathroom stalls), not a single trash can to throw away garbage. The floor is a bit uneven and, consequently, with everyone walking out of the shower completely drenched, there are puddles throughout the locker room. You can also tell that they do not clean every day: I've seen lost/leftover underwear or speedos on the floor that remain there through the next day. It would be great to have an electronic check-in system tied to your fingerprint or phone number as it's easy to lose or misplace your punch card of passes and a slow process sometimes to depend on a human being marking off your pass card if there's a line.9
It is an indoor swimming pool. It has about 10 lanes. It has a beautiful view outside. Unfortunately I doesn't Hasan parking spaces. You have to park on the road and walk in.
I like the pool, but the walkways to the pool are uneven with dips and different types of surfaces overlapping, making it a tripping hazard. The walkways are not ADA compliant and not mobility challenged friendly.
