What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for this community pool and clubhouse facility present a mixed, but largely negative, overall experience. Positive feedback noted the main pool as clean, safe, staffed, and enjoyable. However, significant concerns were raised about customer service, particularly involving manager Harold Baker and Laura Broderick, who were described as extremely rude, unwelcoming, and dismissive. They allegedly denied entry to community members and visitors, even when willing to pay, using ungrateful language in front of children, and fostering an exclusive atmosphere. Safety is a major concern, with multiple reports of slips and falls on the dangerously slippery outer edge of the toddler pool, and management reportedly removing a warning sign. Clubhouse rental experiences were also highly problematic, with staff failing to clean the venue as promised, forcing patrons to clean it themselves, and unfulfilled promises regarding amenities. Many reviewers felt that their issues, including staff rudeness and facility problems, were not addressed or resolved by management or the board. While the main pool is appreciated, its membership-driven cost was also cited as a barrier for infrequent users, with suggestions for more flexible pass options.

No southern hospitality at this location. What a horrible experience for a visiting person. I was visiting from another state and my lovely cousin was excited to show us the community pool, which she lives right behind. Her beautiful children and my child walked right over and only to meet the rude "manager" who highly spoke of his management since 1979..(no-one cares). Management apparently was just a title for this man because there was no kindness nor respect. He exclaimed my cousin was not a part of the community since she didnt have a membership because he had bills to pay for the pool. Since she didnt have a membership she was not a contributing member of his pool HOA. Not only was this uncalled for, but he spoke in a ungrateful tone in front of children ages 8 to 11. As a professional myself, we dont speak to people rudely no matter how many years you have been "doing your job". Not only was Harold Baker rude but involved Laura Broderick and said she wouldn't allow us in either because we are not pool community contributors. Mind you the pool was closing in 1 hr and we were willing to pay. But the fact was its deliverance and unkind tone that took me for shock. Visit chickahominy riverfront park pool! We were welcome paid a small fee and MUCH KINDER FOLKS. True southern hospitality not like Mr. BAKER.
We live in the Kingswood community and this pool is not friendly to neighbors unless they are chosen/accepted into the clique of the pool managers. It was a shame to hear Harold Baker tell our family with 5 children present that we do “not contribute” to the community even though we were ready to pay for entrance to the pool. Those were his chosen words. But our tax payer dollars contribute to this community without a doubt SIR! He was enthusiastic that Laura Broderick would share his sentiments. What a shame. We will visit Chickahominy Riverfront Park Pool instead. There is no snootiness from workers there and the children love the splash pad.
Excellent pool, except for the toddler pool. The floor is rather slippery along the outer edge. I was attending a birthday party and I slipped and hit my head on the concrete, one of the children slipped and scraped her back on the concrete edge, and then we observed a father slip and fall as well. No lifeguard saw ANY of these incidents. They were notified and placed a sign stating the floor was slippery, but the manager took it down. Very unsafe and a lawsuit will end up shutting the place down if the problem isn't addressed and remedied.
It is a fantastic community pool, clean, safe, staffed, and enjoyable. My only complaint is that it is membership driven, thus expensive if you aren't a family that goes often enough to make membership pricing worthwhile. A lower cost "weekender" pass or something similar would help bring the cost down, as not everyone knows a member to come as a paid guest.
I reserved the clubhouse for my son's 1 year old birthday party atleast a month in advance and the staff was suppose to clean the clubhouse. I confirmed that twice with 2 different staff members weeks prior if they would be cleaning the clubhouse (as that would be obvious to do) and they said yes but they never cleaned anything. When we arrived on the day of my son's birthday party the windows and floors were filthy. My husband asked one of the lifeguards if someone was going to clean and he asked to speak to a supervisor. The young female lifeguard swept up a little after my husband's complaint but there was alot of food and dust still all over the floors. We had to sweep, mop, clean the windows plus do the things we already had planned to do. Not one time while we were running around doing what they were suppose to do did they take the initiative in trying to assist us. Picture a crying birthday boy fussy while mommy and daddy are running around trying to set things up and having to deal with the inconveniences of taking on staff member's responsibilities. The stress from that really took away from what was suppose to be an exciting time for our family and I was very upset about that. The party started late too as a result. Another issue we had was being told we had access to the refrigerator for storage space and once we arrived we had pretty much no space at all. These types of incoveniences is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE for a paying customer especially when they knew weeks in advance when the birthday party would be. Even after all of that I still took the initiative AFTER my son's bday party to clean, stack chairs, and put the tables back so a thank you from the lifeguard who was responsible in doing that would've been nice.. UPDATE: STAFF AND BOARD MEMBERS DID NOTHING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE..
