Recreation center offering a gym, swimming pool, basketball court, and a variety of classes.
The indoor aquatic center at Williams Farm Recreation Center features a 25-yard competition pool, a leisure pool with water play features, a current channel, a slide, and a hot tub. All pools are heated year-round to comfortable temperatures, though specific numerical temperatures for each pool are not publicly detailed by the facility.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Williams Farm Rec Center generally garners positive feedback for its impressive aquatic facilities, which are widely praised as clean, well-maintained, and highly entertaining for children, featuring lazy rivers, slides, and splash pads. Many visitors commend the helpful, friendly, and attentive front desk and pool staff, contributing to enjoyable experiences. However, a significant area of concern highlighted in several reviews is inconsistent and occasionally negative staff behavior. Some patrons reported encounters with rude, aggressive, or "power-hungry" employees, leading to uncomfortable and unenjoyable visits, with specific instances of inconsistent rule enforcement and even an accusation of racism against a lifeguard. While the facilities themselves are a strong draw, the varying quality of staff interactions creates a polarized experience for visitors.

It was my first time at this location and the family absolutely loved it! The little lazy river is the perfect size for the kids. I wasn't expecting a small splash pad indoors as well so that was a bonus. The slide was a blast and the pool was well maintained and very relaxing. The lifeguards paid attention really well to everything which is great. The front staff at the desk was extremely helpful and friendly and got us through the process of signing in quickly and smoothly. Awesome location, awesome staff. We will definitely be back and I'll recommend this rec center to anyone.
I took my nieces and nephews to this location. I've been to the other locations and the employees are friendly and helpful. I can not say the same about this location. As soon as we walked through the door the employees were barking orders at the kids and adults. Stand here, stand there, don't bounce the ball, don't bring the ball inside the gym, if you go in the gym.... Bring the ball to me. It was honestly insane and overwhelming. The employees were nagging and power hungry. The kids were doing absolutely nothing but standing waiting to get checked in. To make it worse, a brown skin guy came from the inside basketball court to walk outside and tell the kids their ctocks were not allowed on the court. (Which is fine as long as he says it professionally) My neice was just sitting there. The employee with small man syndrome told her to move and get off of the court. He spoke to a girl in that manner. (My niece is very passive and forgiving. So when she called me I instantly knew the man was out of line.) The kids said, "o we didn't know we couldn't wear crocks." He told KIDS, "well now you know. I'm telling you!" They ofc called me immediately and I came down and spoke to the manager who was nice. The kids repeatedly said how the man came outside with an attitude and was way too aggressive. It's funny that the lil man decided to wait until I left the area to approach children. I saw one adult with braids in the game room reprimand a little girl because she opened the door for me. I knocked on the door to come back in and the lady clearly saw me but decided to look the other way. Thankfully, the girl opened the door and sadly was reprimanded. They act like they don't want you there, it was extremely uncomfortable and unenjoyable. It's a shame the kids chose to play outside because they said they didn't want to be near the employees. The employees here are absolutely power hungry, rude and intentionally unfriendly. We'll never use this center again. I prefer the Kempsville location. Kempsville employees are phenomenal and professional.
We enjoyed our stay. The pool—our kids loved it—had plenty to keep them entertained, and the staff was helpful and kind. We later found out that they had a rubber duck collection for the kids to borrow and play with as long as they returned it afterward, of course. The shower rooms had hot water and plenty of privacy, and the facilities were well-maintained. We will definitely come back.
The pool is great but they need to do better training on how they do the height requirements. Each life guard does their own thing. A life guard decided to try to ruin a 7 year olds birthday over a slide. He is also a racist so keep that in mind he's working in the building.. Any time a Caucasian person make it their duty to tell an African American person about their African American spouse or friends that's usually the red flag that they are racist. This man decided to walk up on me in front of my children to tell me I can't speak my mind to them. I was very afraid and didn't even allow my son to ask the next life guard on duty to ride the slide due to him watching us from the side room.. I took a photo of him so y'all can beware. All this over a slide that another life guard showed my son was tall enough to ride.
For our son's 1st birthday party we originally decided to rent one of the party room's with access passes to the pool and game rooms at Kempsville Rec Center. It was closer to our house and closer to majority of the people we invited. After finding out that Kempsville Rec was doing construction and remodeling of their swimming pool area during the dates of our kid's party, we expressed our concern and they suggested that they could transfer the event to Williams Farm Rec Center. I'm honestly glad we did. Shout out to Lei, Brandy, Tim and the rest of the Williams Farm Rec Center front desk team staff! They made the transition to their facility and setup for the party the day of very very easy and stress free. They made us feel welcome and whatever we needed that day for setup, they did with urgency and a smile with no hesitation to help. We can't thank them enough for their assistance throughout the party! The Facility itself is very big and clean. They do a very awesome job at maintaining their grounds and just as long as you follow their rules and guidelines, its a fun time! The kids love it there, and so do we as the parents. Highly recommend for kids birthday parties and swimming pool access for the kiddos! Kids are entertained with a lot of pool access and activities to choose from with multiple stations for the younger kids to stand and play in shallow water, a dedicated splash pad for toddlers, a kids play playground with water falls and slide and surrounding activities, an outdoor water play place to also enjoy the sun when its nice outside, a decent size lazy river, 3 swim lanes for fun friendly competition races, and the massive tubed water slide they have for the older kids. One of the main things as a parent that i like is that the entirety of the massive pool doesn't get deeper than 4 ft. It takes majority of the worry away if you go their mainly for the kids to play. If needed, they have floaties and float vests for all kids sizes to use during their time at the pool. Its just overall very accommodating and good indoor and outdoor pool entertainment for the kids. Thanks Again Williams Farm Rec crew for the memorable event!
