Found a new worst place to add to my reprotoire. 2 stars because it has decent potential. Burnt up weeds is best way to described this place. The clubhouse smells like grandpa's musty closet. Best part was it only took me an hour and half to get back in the car and on my way. I'm adding pictures of how high the weeds are on the tee box. That's a 7 iron and the weeds are 20 inches up the shaft..that's not a typo...almost 2 feet high. The "fairway" isn't any better. Hard clay. No grass, just weeks. My front yard look way better then this. The greens however are better good. So if the golf cart. The view of the lake is great on 17 and 18 and I personally love the quirkiness at 10 green...a 20 foot straight drop to the right side reminiscent of Mike Strantz. The layout itself is so bad it just has zero maintenance. Yet as bad as the condition is people are working on it. It isn't doing any good but at least people are working. Only problem with that is I'm trying to chip onto 1 green and the picture shows what I have. A guy with a blower standing on the green. He never bothered acknowledging me or stopping his blowing. He was 15 feet from the flag and had no intentions of allowing me to play so I picked up and moved on. Hole 2 had a mower and same thing never moved out of the way of my driving aim so I waited from him to get about 100 years in front of me and hit over him then hurried to my ball before he mowed over it. This didn't bother me as much as it would others but I am curious as to what he was mowing...nothing but dust was flying up because there's no grass, just weeds as I keep saying. Don't play here. You're better off going to a driving range or mini golf if you want to practice your stroke.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve been playing Windermere on and off for over 20 years, and I’ve got to say—my most recent visit 7/22/2025 was a *pleasant surprise*. The last time I played here, the course was really struggling, and it was honestly disappointing to see such a great layout in poor shape. Fast forward to yesterday, and it’s a totally different story. The greens were in **fantastic shape**—smooth, consistent, rolling around a 9 and a real pleasure to putt on. The fairways were solid, tee boxes were neatly kept, and the bunkers were well-raked and in great condition, though still a little short on sand so stay shallow. The improvements are night and day from what I played last year. The layout has always been one of the best around Columbia, and it's great to see the course finally getting the care it deserves. Be warned though—**stay in the fairway**. The rough is no joke, and areas outside the fairway aren’t nearly as well maintained. All in all, I was thoroughly impressed and will definitely be coming back out much more often. Windermere is on the upswing and worth your time if you’re a golfer in the area.
Decent experience all around. The fairway are in relatively okay shape for probably 15 of 18 holes and the greens were fast/challenging. Tee boxes were pretty beat up and so was the driving range. A plus was that there were just buckets of balls for practice before the round and we were also able to get off on time even though there was a tournament. It was a spring Saturday and there was no beverage cart going around and the guy working the desk at check in acted like he was doing us a favor by taking our money and allowing us to golf on his course (I'm saying this in the nicest way possible).
My niece had her bridal luncheon at the Windermere Club. We sat down to beautiful white table cloths on round tables and beautifully decorated. We selected the menu ahead of time - very generous portions! Our dinning room over looked the pond with white geese. Schedule a tour if Windere Club and you'll see why it was considered a magical place for my nieces bridal luncheon .
Greens are in the best shape I have seen here, so that’s good. Tee boxes aren’t too bad and best I have seen here. Cart paths and the rest of the course needs help, but it’s improving. Definitely need to invest in a ranger though. I played on weekday morning as a single and was stuck behind a five-some which is frustrating.
