What are people saying (AI review summary)? This pool is widely praised as an exceptional value and a quintessential neighborhood swimming experience in Kansas City, particularly for its affordability at just $1 per person. Reviewers frequently commend its fun and clean environment, spaciousness (including a large shallow end ideal for younger swimmers), and active lifeguards. Many appreciate the respectful atmosphere and friendly staff, even when the pool is crowded. However, a significant point of contention is the recent implementation of new, perceived 'unnecessary rules,' specifically regarding the supervision of children. Patrons are now required to have an 18-year-old adult supervise those under 16, and this adult must pay admission even if not swimming, a policy that has caused disappointment among long-time visitors and is noted by some to be unpopular even with the employees.

Best value in summertime fun in Kansas City! This is the absolute essence of the classic neighborhood swimming pool. One big rectangle of water grading from 3' to 10' in depth. One small rectangle of water approximately 12" deep. Popular music blasting through tinny speakers. Kids bombing around in the water having the best time in the world. It's an experience every kid should get to have!
My family has been going to this pool for DECADES, and NEVER has it had so many unnecessary rules. My friend, her little sister, and myself have come since we were babies, and only until now have we had to start bringing an adult because the 16 year olds aren’t allowed to watch the little ones on their own, and it has to be an 18 year old. Not only that, but the 18 year old must stay with the child under 16, and has to pay to go down there whether they’re swimming or not. They’ve never had so many unnecessary rules, and it’s clear the employees don’t agree with it either. Disappointment.
My family and I had SUCH a great time at this pool. It was clean, spacious, and fun, and more importantly, only $1/person!! The pool has a large shallow-ish end so my not-so-good swimmers, ages 6-9, had lots of space to play without me worrying they were getting in too deep. We LOVED it.
I loved that the lifeguards where active with the kids. Very nice environment. And for 1$ to swim was a blessing for a mom with 5 kids. Me and my children have found our new playing grounds.
I go to this pool all of the time. It is the most amazing pool I have ever had the privilege of swimming at. All of those people that think the Johnson County pools are better just because they are in Johnson County are missing out if they look past Parkwood. Parkwood is fun, great people work there and even though it gets crowded everyone is still very respectful of others space.
