What are people saying (AI review summary)? This pool receives mixed reviews, with many patrons expressing significant dissatisfaction with its stringent and inconsistently applied swim test policies. Complaints include adults being required to take lengthy swim tests for slides, good child swimmers failing tests deemed too long for the actual distance needed, and perceived over-strict or unfair enforcement by lifeguards, leading to many children being unable to access deep water or slides. Conversely, other reviews highly praise the pool as a large, affordable, historic, and well-maintained family-friendly facility with friendly, well-trained, and attentive lifeguards. These positive reviews emphasize the importance of water safety and suggest that patrons should take responsibility for their own swimming abilities.

I had to take a test to go in the 5ft when im tall enough to swim in the 5ft and and they made us swim across the whole pool and then come back without stopping so you could go to the 5 feet and if you stopped u won’t be able to be in the 5ft n an adult had to take a swim test to go on a slide which is ridiculous. We also saw people before us do the swim test n they didn’t have to go as far as we did which is not fair.
This was once a great fun pool. The current managers or owner needs to go!! The swim test rules are absurd. They test adults! I have never seen or heard of this in my 45 years of life anywhere!. Some dumb 18 yearold kid telling grown ups they cant go in deep water? Then NO kids can pass. Both my 10 yearolds who are good swimmers failed. They can easily swim 20 yards but not the 50 yard swim test. But its a 10 foot swim from the slide to the wall? We were their 3 hours and not one kid was able to enjoy the slides. None at all! Just adults What a joke. I saw a life gaurd yell at a kid and his FATHER to have kid closer to him in 5 foot water! The kid was 5 feet away from a dad in the water! Stupid life gaurds and a terrible policy unfortunately ruined this pool. We will not return
We love this pool! Always have a great time. The staff is friendly & the lifeguards are extremely attentive.
Nice family friendly pool to take your kids
Great pool, very large, affordable, historic yet well maintained, and I don’t think many people realize how fortunate we are to have this in our city. The lifeguards are well trained and attentive, and don’t deserve the amount of grief they get - if you or your child are not able to swim, that is purely your fault, not theirs. As a former lifeguard, and current boat captain and Divemaster, I recognize the importance of water safety more than most, and I know that if anything were to happen, the pool and the staff would take the legal and civil responsibility. Don’t ruin this incredible place for the rest of us - either take the initiative to teach yourself and your family how to swim, or stay in the shallow end.
