What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Milwaukee County aquatic facility is largely praised as a wonderful and satisfactory summer treat, with many reviewers appreciating its role as a vital community resource, especially given the closure of other inner-city pools. Patrons consistently commend the professional and reliable lifeguards, and the facility's provision of free sunscreen. Many reviews are steeped in nostalgia, highlighting fond childhood memories associated with the pool and surrounding area. However, common criticisms include a desire for extended morning lap swim hours, extremely strong and 'painful' shower water pressure, and the perceived unnecessary requirement for adults (even those over 18) to take a swimming test for deep-end access.

Kudos to Milwaukee County aquatics team. This is a wonderful facility and a joyful special summer treat. I only wish that morning lap swim could extend to eleven o'clock. Guards have been extremely professional and reliable. This isn't a new facility but it'll do at a time when we are pining for community sports venues.
Pretty satisfactory place to have a leisurely swim. Guards are nice and the facilities are adequate. Those showers however, are painful! If you let it hit your package you will sing a high tune! All in all its a great place and they also offer free sunscreen!
Grew up in Milwaukee in the 70's and used to swim every day during the summer at McGovern Park or Dineen Park when we wanted to use the high dive. So very sad to see those pools no longer exist. Used to walk there in large groups of friends stopping often to pick fresh fruits and berries from our neighbors' yards and wash them with their yard/house spigots. Milwaukee was an absolutely beautiful city back then with neatly manicured yards and clean prim landscapes. Wish I could go back to that time and revisit. 😂
Nostalgic neighborhood pool still providing an enjoyable experience in 2023. The fact that it is still open when a lot of other inner city pools have closed in recent years is a testament to the county’s desire to provide opportunities for the community to cool off and chill on hot days. Took off one star because I’m 25 and they still wanted me to take a swimming test to swim in the deep part of the pool while most other pools stop testing after the swimmer reaches 18, I could’ve passed the test but it was insulting to have even been required to take it so I didn’t on principle of the rule being unnecessary.
I grew up here. I can remember having to show my swimming aptitude to the lifeguards before I could go to the "deep-end". I spent many bus rides down 27th street to Howard. With a brief stop at Toys R Us. God I really miss that! So many wonderful memories, playing, swimming, fishing, toys, games, baseball, ice skating, and hockey. That area between 20th and Howard and 27th and Howard, Wilson Park, has held more moments, memories, and wonderful experiences! Nothing was better, nor could it have been. It was pure childhood bliss!
