What are people saying (AI review summary)? This large, multi-level recreational center offers a wide array of facilities including regulation-sized courts for basketball and pickleball, a swimming pool, and areas for table sports like pool and ping-pong. It also features a unique media/computer center with classes and tech assistance. Many reviewers praise the center as one of the best in NYC, highlighting its clean environment, diverse offerings, and generally nice, helpful, and calm staff. However, significant concerns exist regarding security, with reports of smashed locks and stolen belongings due to a lack of security cameras and unhelpful staff responses to these incidents. Additionally, the weight room is specifically criticized for being in complete disarray, overcrowded, poorly ventilated, and having broken equipment, mold, and dust.
Reviews
Several storied (elevators & stairs) large center w/all of the resources expected of the city's gyms. Regulation sized courts & pool. Workout room spread over several rooms & floors which may be a PRO or CON depending on taste. Layout boasts a 2 level bright & airy table sport section and a jewel of A MEDIA/COMPUTER CENTER w/classes ranging from Video, Podcasting & digital music editing, in addition to daily scheduled open lab w/tech assistance for ALL ages... & Like most these days, pickleball abounds
Terrible place. If you come here be sure to bring a strong enough lock. Because if not your lock will get smashed and your stuff will get taken. And there's NO security cameras so once you lose your stuff you lose it for good, and especially if you play basketball, you wouldn't notice if your stuff gets taken. Because the lockers in the bathroom are further, so if you're lucky enough to be the first one there and manage to get the lockers by the basketball area You MIGHT be okay. But the recreation center people won't help you and they only care more about you being mad at them for the problem. Which wouldn't be a problem if they had proper security cameras! So even if you say "get attacked there" there's a chance that person could get away. Would not recommend for the risk.
The weight room is in complete disarray. Broken equipment, mold and dust on the ceilings, the space is way too crowded. Absolutely no ventilation. Worst gym I've ever been to.
Best NYC recreational center I have ever been to! Most Staff are nice and helpful! I love the indoor pool😄
This is one of the best New York City Parks and it is indoors, with a very clean environment, swimming pool, pool tables, ping pong tables, Basket ball, picket ball and much more. The Staff are good people who are nice and calm.
