Public outdoor swimming pool with a grassy area, picnic space, and special swimming classes.
The outdoor pool at Riverbank State Park is generally heated to provide a comfortable swimming experience. While specific daily temperatures can vary, public outdoor pools in the region typically maintain water temperatures in the range of 78-82°F (approximately 25.5-27.8°C) during their operational season.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this swimming pool are largely negative, highlighting significant issues with its management, staff, and facilities. Recurring complaints include overly strict and arbitrary rules, particularly regarding swimwear, leading to frustrating entry denials even for appropriate quick-dry materials or non-swimmers. Several visitors found staff unwelcoming, unreasonable, and overly authoritative, with one review expressing concerns about racial discrimination in entry enforcement. Facility criticisms include small, cramped spaces, a no-stroller policy, outdated and unclean locker rooms with rusty fixtures and unpleasant odors, and safety hazards like cracked floors. Other operational issues mentioned are late openings, long wait times, and an inflexible policy of not reopening after brief storms. In contrast, one positive review commended the pool for being clean, uncrowded, suitable for both fun and laps, and having attentive, friendly lifeguards.

the worst over regulated problematic situation. just wanted to be next to pool with my friend and her kid. had to strip even though i was not swimming had warnings by 10different lifeguards about the rules about my shorts not being appropriate(which were swimming shorts made out of polyester quick dry bathing suit material). It was a disaster with a 5y old girl confused about all these adults scolding her parents.100% avoid unless you have no other choice. or if the management changes.
Friday July 25th temp. in the 90s. Arrived here at 4:30pm after a brief(20min) and light thunder/rainstorm and Pool attendant/ Park Ranger said they will not reopen.."once we close down we don't open back up after a thunder storm." The skies were clear and the sun was out at this point. I feel cheated.
I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this swimming pool. The facility itself is quite small, with a cramped area for kids that forces parents out every time they need to assist their children. The policy of not allowing strollers is a major inconvenience, especially for parents with toddlers who are left vulnerable outside. The staff's demeanor is far from welcoming; they seem to have an attitude and lack friendliness. The locker rooms are in dire need of an update – old and with rusty lockers that emit an unpleasant odor of bleach. The overall cleanliness of the place leaves much to be desired, and the presence of cracks in the floor poses a serious safety hazard for children's toes. All in all, I cannot recommend this swimming pool to anyone. The combination of a cramped space, unwelcoming staff, outdated facilities, and potential safety risks make it an unfortunate choice for a day of recreation.
Awesome pool not crowded clean facilities. Great for fun and laps. Life guards attentive and friendly.
I had an unplesant experience. The pool was supposed to open at 11 but the workers arrived late and had a crowd of 20+ people standing around in 95° F heat. Once I got to the front, I was denied entry even though I had swim shorts. The “ranger”, who was more like an overseer, demanded to check everyone’s swim attire prior to paying, which I thought was strange but I obliged. Keep in mind I already had my swim trunks on, so I could not take them off. The material of my shorts was indeed appropriate for swimming, however, the overseer said because he could not see the white meshing I could not enter, despite my attempt to show him the white mesh pockets. Overall I think this site is clearly poorly-funded and the miserable workers take joy in denying people a place to swim, especially Black and Brown people as they (white people) have done for generations. I think the lengths these workers go to exclude the general population to public pools is quite sad and pathetic. From long wait times to mandatory padlocks, it’s ridiculous. I think this also raises a question of what is appropriate swimwear because what if I wanted to wear a speedo? I believe the ranger name was Parlo or Pahklo. He was extremely unreasonable and he clearly needed some sunscreen and the stick out of his ass.
