My review is solely on their swim lessons. We love this place and appreciate the lessons and the value so much. My son swam here for a while with coach Dylan and he was excellent with him. He’s a solid swimmer now. My daughter swims with coach Nicole, Sue and June and they are all just lovely with her. She’s learning a lot and improving. We’re very pleased with their program.
I have been coming here for more than 3 years. I generally like the facility since I saw them also trying to make the facility better by changing the shower head and so on. I have two big things that they should improve. 1) They always shut down the swimming pool for 3 weeks during the summer, but they charge the full price of one month. They should reimburse or give us money back or discount for the period of July to August. 2) The water quality should be checked more thoroughly. I saw them pouring a lot of chemical power. Also, I had skin trouble occasionally. I noticed that the water was not salty too much right after they had the maintenance period, but I felt the water tasted too salty again after a couple of months. I am wondering if they put too many chemical things inside the water.
Went there this morning as a guest with a 1-day free pass and I was fully intending to join today if I liked the gym. I have a chronic disease that affects my mobility and I walk with a cane. I brought along a friend to help me from fitness machine to fitness machine. After I filled out the forms, the front desk person handed me back my ID, and told me they had to take my picture. Okay. Fine. And then he told me that they have to take my blood pressure. *Very excessive* for a 1-day guest pass, but I acquiesced and started to follow the front desk person (I will call him Person A). He said it was due to policy for Hackensack Meridian *fitness and wellness*. Okay. I was under the belief that the blood pressure machine was close to the front desk, because Person A said, "The machine is right there." He saw me limping along with my cane and just watched me. Didn't ask me if I needed help or anything of that nature. Even when I go to a bank, the employees are more helpful. I kept on walking and I asked, "Where is the machine?" He said, "It's right over here." He led me to a hallway. I asked again for the machine. He pointed all the way to the back and said, "It's right there, in the back." I turned around to go back to the lobby because I'd never felt so disregarded. Someone else (Person B) started talking to Person A about whatever it was happening with the situation, and Person B said they can actually bring the machine out to the front for me. Imagine that. But at that point, I'd already felt disregarded and decided to leave and go to another gym. I joined the next gym I went to. They were actually helpful and the process was simple.
When I visited a gym as a guest, I informed them at the entrance that I had surgery a year ago. I had spoken with my doctor the day before and got permission to go, and I told them I would only use the pool and look around to decide if I wanted to join. However, they made me fill out a form for 30 minutes with someone who claimed to be the manager. They said they needed to measure my blood pressure, and the result was very good. But the manager’s behavior was extremely unpleasant. He said I couldn’t enter, even though I told him I would sign everything and take full responsibility. When I asked why this wasn’t mentioned at the entrance, he simply said, “I don’t want to let you in.” The manager was wearing a pink shirt — please don’t go there.
Clean, big space gym, plenty of cardio machines for use, pool is always maintained. Plenty of people who can guide you in how to use machines or training. They have a juice bar/food inside the gym. Free classes for gym members. Also plenty of parking!
