What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool receives highly polarized reviews. Positive feedback highlights it as a fun, clean, and family-friendly place with an 'awesome' manager (Rob Berger) and dedicated staff, fostering a welcoming 'pool family' atmosphere with good music. Conversely, several reviews contain severe criticisms, including accusations of unprofessional, disrespectful, and explicitly racist behavior from the manager, creating an 'incredibly hostile environment' particularly for non-white patrons. Other complaints mention summer camp groups ruining the experience by not following rules and the bathrooms being 'disgusting' and in need of renovation. While some strongly recommend it, others advise against visiting and suggest reporting the facility to the city due to the serious nature of the negative experiences.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Unprofessional and Racist Behavior I had a very upsetting experience at this pool. The manager was not only unprofessional, but also blatantly racist, which is completely unacceptable. He yelled in a disrespectful manner, showed no courtesy, and treated me in a way that made me feel completely unwelcome and unsafe. What made the situation even worse is that he refused to apologize or take any responsibility for his behavior. As a customer, I expected basic respect and decency, and this experience was far from it. I absolutely do not recommend this place. I sincerely hope that the management is held accountable and that serious steps are taken to train staff on respectful and fair treatment of all people, regardless of background.
The Hawthorne pool is a great place to bring the family and hang out. The staff he leads also do a great job. Starting with Rob Berger the manager, who is awesome btw and some of his staff..mr. Leo- Mr Justin- Mr Jeremy- Miss Ashley- Miss Hailey- Miss Sofia -Miss Riley- Miss Alana just to name a few. As a matter of fact I just gave Mr Justin a slice of pizza for saving a little boy who’s swimming skills where not the best. Much love to my pool family employees and patrons which is growing by the year. Come hang with us while we pump 80s music with thrown in 70s and some 90s. And as always….eat your protein. Future you is counting on now you💙🫶💪
The summer camp hordes ruin the experience for everyone as they take over the pool and do no abide by any rules whatsoever! However, if the town wants to make money allowing the summer camp use the pool, in addition to charging the residents for the pool passes, the least it can do is to renovate the bathrooms. They are absolutely DISGUSTING.
Incredibly hostile environment if you're any shade that isn't white. Whether you live in Fair lawn or not, it is not a good experience. Do not go, and if anything, report it to the city at this point
