What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the aquatic center are mixed, highlighting both positive aspects and areas needing improvement. Positives include the facility's cleanliness, appreciative memories from long-time patrons, and praise for some lifeguards' diligence and professionalism. However, several concerns were raised: inaccurate website hours led to wasted trips, a need for children's pool repair and more toddler activities, and inconsistent lifeguard attentiveness (with one user noting a lack of focus on safety). Other suggestions include opening more swim lanes (though some improvement was noted), addressing excessively hot shower water, improving lighting in changing rooms, and better communicating the availability of other local aquatic facilities.

The hours on their website say they are open at 6am Tuesday - Friday but when I showed up, a security guard told me they aren't open until 9:30am. Please keep your website up to date so people don't waster their mornings coming here.
looking forward to hearing about the children’s pool being repaired and more toddler related activities like the tumbling with the matt’s for the little ones, especially during times when it is challenging to get the children active outdoors due to weather conditions
Went there for the first time 8/5/17. Definitely wasn't what I expected. Facility was super clean. Pool, restroom, and changing rooms were impecable. The only thing that messed up the facility was the life guards. Don't get me wrong they were very nice people but they weren't paying much attention to the kids swimming. They were too busy joking and talking to each other and playing around with some of the kids there. I feel that as a life guard you need to be more professional and watch these kids in the pool because they are there to save a life if a child drowning. I will come again. Hopefully next time they do pay more attention.
I lived in Newark, New Jersey (2012-2017) before returning to Texas, and I must say the JFK Aquatic Center is truly a gem in the city. Whether a leisurely swim or relieving stress, the aquatic center offers fond memories of a retractable roof stadium, where the lifeguards converted 25 meter swim lanes to 50 meter lanes, June to September, annually. Thanks to all the staff (lifeguards Arius, Mike, and Clarence (who passed away) for your work and kindness. Respectfully, Roshin
I love this place! Love the pool except more lanes need to be opened. And they did open an extra lane the last 2 mos. Maybe consider cutting the lanes in half . The life guards are nice and ON IT! I really can’t begin to describe their diligence in pool monitoring and smooth, interpersonal actions with one another to do their jobs. Once on a cloudy day, it seemed as if they were running a military operation! BUT , the SHOWER WATER IS TOO HOT!! And the changing room is dark, could use better lighting. And stop telling people about ‘our pool’!!! There is an indoor pool in the KNECK at 226 Rome St. Tell people about that one.
