Public swimming venue with a diving board offering lessons.
The facility typically features multiple pools with different temperatures. The main lap pool is generally maintained at a cooler temperature, usually around 80-82°F (26.6-27.7°C), suitable for exercise and lap swimming. There is also often a warmer leisure or instructional pool, which is typically kept around 88-90°F (31.1-32.2°C), ideal for younger children, swim lessons, and warmer water activities.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Aloha Aquatic Center garners mixed reviews, with many praising its friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. Positive aspects highlighted include a smart swimming test requirement for the diving board, free guest WiFi, and accurate water depth indicators. Some visitors appreciate the designated lanes and lower crowd levels for public swimming. However, significant concerns are raised regarding facility updates, particularly the outdated men's locker room and shower areas, which are criticized for a complete lack of privacy and forcing exposure, with strong requests for modern amenities like lockers, clothes wringers, and improved shower layouts. Swim lessons also received strong negative feedback, described as unprofessional and disorganized due to inexperienced instructors, a lack of communication or feedback, and failure to address specific stroke requests, especially given the $50 price point.

Great pool to visit for public swimming. Staff required to pass swimming test before you can go on diving board which I think is very smart and great idea. Got an annual pass. Building equipped with free THPRD Guest WiFi
Not Worth the $50 – Unprofessional and Disorganized My recent experience at Aloha Aquatic Center left me deeply frustrated. For a $50 swim lesson, I expected structure, clear communication, and a qualified instructor—unfortunately, none of these were provided. The issues started immediately: We were charged the full $50 fee despite the class starting 5 minutes late, which felt unreasonable for a service already priced steeply. The instructor assigned to my son appeared inexperienced and unprepared. Throughout the session, they repeatedly turned to an older staff member for guidance, who was clearly multitasking and unable to focus on teaching. A child’s swim class should be handled by a confident, capable instructor—not someone learning on the job. Communication was nonexistent. After the class, there was zero feedback on what was covered, areas to improve, or future goals. Even worse, I specifically requested help with one stroke, but the lesson veered into unrelated skills with little regard for our specific request. While I appreciate that training new instructors is part of any business, this felt unprofessional and careless for the price charged. Parents deserve transparency and competence when paying for private lessons. Proceed with caution—if you’re looking for attentive, organized instruction, you might want to look elsewhere. My son and I left feeling underwhelmed, and I hope the center takes steps to improve their structure and communication.
Update 12/19/23: I'm sad that none of these facilities has been updated. While the pool is mostly the same, there are some highly needed updates. Specially there needs to be some lockers added, there needs to be a clothes wringer (for quickly drying out swimsuits before leaving the pool), and just importantly the locked rooms need to updated with shower locations. No one should be having to be immediately geared with men showering nor should those showering have to fully expose themselves to anyone and everyone everyone the locker room, then having to walk through the showers to get to the actual pool, and finally having to walk through the showers coming out of the pool. As someone who appreciates having a pool with little to no people, this was a great experience. The pool here is a little older and quite a bit smaller than other THPRD pools. But they have designated Lanes for swimming, and they even have a diving board. The men's locker room is how old swim center locker rooms used to be. A big room with some benches and hooks... Yup, so everyone is making eye contact haha. The shower facilities were alright, but as the hallway to enter the men's locker is halled off, so as to allow some privacy for the locker room, you are immediately confronted with naked dudes. Or not naked dudes who don't take complete showers
Today it was our first day. My son went back to swimming classes after two years. All the staff was so friendly. Thank you!
Best staff I've ever met! Super helpful and knowledgeable! Accurate water depth indicators, I have measured as inaccurate measurements bother me very much.
