What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews present a mixed but generally positive view of the facility, with notable concerns regarding its swim center operations. Many users praise the warm, saline water, beneficial for sensitive skin and children, and highlight excellent swim instructors like Carl/Karl and Shaila for their patience and effectiveness in teaching. The adjacent park and playground are also well-loved, offering amenities for toddlers and older children, and the location is convenient with good parking and bus access. However, significant criticisms center on operational policies and staffing within the swim center. Users express frustration over strict entry rules for swim sessions, which reduce actual swim time and create inconvenience for families, the elderly, and disabled individuals. There are concerns about the center being understaffed, leading to busy staff and difficulties in reaching them by phone. Furthermore, the limited and inconvenient operating hours, especially for lap swims post-pandemic, have led to considerable disappointment among long-time patrons who find it impossible to use the facility with a full-time work schedule.

Took my toddler for swimming which is only 55 mins. Not even an hour. So we wanted to go into the dressing room and be fully ready to jump in the water at the exact time so we could actually take advantage of the entire 55 mins. But we were not allowed to enter the building even a few minutes earlier. The lady was there. She even openned the door to tell us that we can't go in until the exact time the swimming starts. So please explain to me that much sense it makes to take your kid for only a 55 min swim whole you'll spend min 10 mins to get ready and actually go in the water for only 45 mins? Why would people not be allowed to go into the dressing rooms a few mins earlier so they can enjoy the pool more? We turned back and went to the Clackamas swim center where we're welcomed a lot more and better eventho it was a longer drive. The attitude and the welcome in this place wasn't right for us and it was very disappointing. Look at the picture and bunch of elderly, disabled people waiting at the door at exactly 7.59am but they don't open the door until 8 for a 55 min swim.
We love the park!! (Haven't used the swim center yet) The playground is rated for older kids, but my toddler loves it! And there's a basketball field and a community garden and big open grassy field next to it, which my kid loves so much! We love that the slide is small enough for him to use and there are toddler swings in addition to the typical swings! Definitely grateful that it's here! It's pretty easy to walk to and there's a bus stop across the street for the swim center and there's lots of parking! There is one picnic table and two benches but no bathrooms outside.
My daughter has private swim lesson with teacher Carl/Karl - wonderful instructor who is gentle, patient while diligently helping her to explore further into the tougher end. After spending a whole year in group lessons without much progress, we decided to have her go private and I am seeing much better progress being made in a timely manner. The water is warmer than other places and this is wonderful! Taking 1 star down because I think this center is under-staffed and staff members are constantly busy...so busy that sometimes they don't even have time to pick up phone calls. At least they do call you back when they get your voicemail.
Warm pool and great for kids. We love the swim instructor Shaila who is amazing with kids. she helped my son get comfortable being in the water.
UPDATE: It's appalling that Harman only offers lap swims ONCE a day. I love Harman. There are no other pools in the area quite like it. Keeping the water as warm as this place does makes going swimming in the wintertime a non-issue and not to mention the saline water that's used is helpful to my extremely sensitive skin. Prior to the Pandemic, I swam at Harman 4 days a week before work. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. It was gut wrenching when everything reopened, and Harman did not. I checked every week and even emailed and called THPRD on several occasions with no answers for a planned reopening date. When I checked again a few weeks ago, I was thrilled to see the pool reopened! But my excitement immediately turned to disappointment when I saw the limited hours the pool is now offering. Of course, I'm aware of staffing shortages and other red tape, but these hours are inconvenient and impossible to plan around for someone who works full time during the week. When Harman extends their hours again that allow people who aren't retired to use the facility, I'll happily give a 5-star rating!
