British Swim School of West Seattle Health Club offers year-round swim lessons for all ages, from infants to adults, within the West Seattle Health Club facility. Their programs focus on water safety, survival skills, and stroke development in a fun and gentle environment.
The pools at British Swim School locations, including West Seattle Health Club, are typically heated to a comfortable 85-86°F (29-30°C), making them ideal for swim lessons, especially for infants and young children.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? British Swim School elicits mixed feedback from parents. Many commend the instructors for their motivating teaching style, effective instruction in swimming and vital water safety skills, and ability to help children, even those initially fearful, build confidence and progress significantly. The individualized attention and skill-based class structure are frequently highlighted as positive attributes. However, a significant point of criticism revolves around the perceived value for money. One review specifically details paying a high monthly fee ($200) for only about 8 minutes of actual in-water instruction per session, despite 30-minute classes being advertised. This is attributed to sessions being split among multiple children, leading to kids spending considerable time out of the water, getting cold, and experiencing slow or no advancement. While staff are generally described as nice, the program's overall value is questioned by some due to these operational issues.

My daughter is so motivated to keep coming for her swimming lesson. Nick is really a commendable instructor and my daughter loves Nick and she’s learned a lot. Very lively instructor. All in all, we love British Swim School.
Thank you for teaching our kids how to swim and be safe in the water. Seeing this transformation over the past three months was beautiful and amazing. The energy and approach with these kids is really wonderful. It's wonderful to see someone meaningfully connect with each child individually and push them to try (and explore on their own) while making sure they feel safe and have fun. I have also noticed how built-in safety has been from moment one - this is a big gift for kids and their families. I'm so happy we found you. Thank you so much for having us BSS!!!
We have been very pleased with British Swim School and our son's progression from fear of the water to a confident swimmer who loves the water now.
No value in their program! Son - 3 years old - love the water We pay 200$ per month so they can teach my son to float (survival). However, our kid go in the water only 8 mins four times a months. While they advertise 30 mins sessions, the 30 mins is split between 3-5 kids so at most he spend 10 mins in the water the rest of the time he sits on the edge freezing. For 3 months we have been told that our son was almost ready to move to the next class but he never did. No wonder given he gets 8 mins of lessons per week. Staff ia really nice, but there is really no value in their program. Would not recommend.
Great swim school, with classes structured based on skill level (vs age). Our daughter advanced through several classes and gained confidence in the water along the way.
