Family-friendly facility offering swim lessons, a lap pool and locker rooms as well as open swim sessions.
The main pool at Helene Madison Pool typically maintains a comfortable temperature ranging between 84-85°F (approximately 29.4-30°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews indicate that the pool facility itself is generally good, often described as great for training and recreation, and usually not too crowded. However, there are significant and consistent criticisms regarding the staff and operations. Lifeguards are frequently described as rude, unaccommodating towards young swimmers, and lacking common sense, leading to negative and harassing experiences for families. Other staff members, aside from receptionists, have also been noted for being rude or in a bad mood. Operational issues include an outdated website schedule, causing visitors to arrive for activities that are not happening, and facility concerns like bathrooms needing maintenance and seating areas requiring better accommodation for different types of patrons. These issues often detract from the overall experience, particularly for families, despite the quality of the pool water itself.

Did some fire department rescue swimmer training and had a great day. Professional staff and a great indoor pool.
The lifeguards are rude and can't tolerate young swimmers. After my son passed the "swim test", I felt harassed and insulted as a parent by the constant interactions with the lifeguards while I'm was trying to have some quality time with my son. He was having fun practicing swimming and being in the deeper water and I was right there with him, close, eyes always on him, and no incidents had occurred. The lifeguards kept interrupting, even when I was already close and my son was clearly comfortable and enjoying his time in the water. We weren't disturbing anyone. Even though we were fine and having fun the lifeguard told us to leave the deep end because my son "looked tired". We had been having fun, counting fingers under water with our goggles on near the wall, and I could tell my son was embarrassed to be told to leave. It was ridiculous and really took away the joy from the experience. We've been to tons of pools and had lots of exposure to family swim and this was hands down my worst experience. The lifeguards couldn't identify an attentive, engaged parent and really showed a lack of common sense and courtesy. Even though it's a public pool it certainly did not feel like a family friendly service. It also didn't feel like the goal of the lifeguards was to keep us safe- it was to make their lives easier by not having a young, albeit well supervised, child in deeper water. So disappointed with my experience.
The pool was great, the bathrooms need a bit of TLC, and the seating area needs to be for both type of customers( shoes and no shoes).
We tried the hour pool playland one afternoon. Aside from the receptionist, who was very friendly and welcoming, everyone was rude and seemed in a bad mood. Set the tone for the activity and made us feel uncomfortable for most of the visit. Unfortunately, we probably won't visit again.
This place needs to keep their schedule on their website updated. Several times we have arrived for recreation swim only to be told they don’t have recreation swim at the time published on their website site, and they have another activity happening at that time. Other than that, it’s a great pool and generally not too crowded
