Lake Union Swim Academy, located at 2040 Westlake Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109, USA, is a dedicated facility offering swim lessons for all ages and skill levels, from infants to adults. It is known for its indoor, warm-water pools designed for a comfortable and effective learning environment.
The pools at Lake Union Swim Academy are maintained at a warm temperature, typically around 90 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 32 degrees Celsius), to ensure comfort for swimmers, especially young children and infants.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviewers largely praise the swimming academy for its warm and clean pools, which create a comfortable learning environment for all ages. Instructors are consistently described as experienced, patient, and kind, providing excellent personal attention due to small class sizes (typically capped at four students). Both children and adults show significant progress, with kids enjoying the fun, age-appropriate skill-building and adults finding it superior to other local options, particularly for the quality of instruction and value (noting a reasonable annual membership for adults instead of costly monthly gym fees). However, one reviewer found the group lessons to be expensive, questioning the value of short, weekly sessions with multiple students sharing a lane, and reported being misinformed about the monthly billing.

My kid loves swimming lessons here. They keep the pool warm and the air temp even warmer which has been a huge plus because getting cold was an obstacle in the past at other pools. Always a big smile throughout his session and the instructor is helping him stretch his comfort zone, learning new skills, which I’ve been so happy to see. Glad to have this place in the neighborhood.
Wonderful learning pool. Clean and warm, so it’s approachable for little kids. Instructors are well-trained, kind, and have a great program of fun age-appropriate games and skill building exercises. It’s easy to sign up for lesson slots. Classes are capped at 4 students.
The group lessons are more expensive than taking private lessons somewhere else. I didn't know the charge was monthly and was mis-informed during the registration. They charge you monthly for $250+ for half-hour weekly sessions and put you in a single lane with 3 other people. Although the instructors were nice, I could not learn much in half an hour with other people in a single lane. It was not worth the money.
Best adult swim lessons in Seattle! I've been looking for adult swim lessons in Seattle for a while and tried out a few options. Lake Union Swim Academy is by far the best. The pool is super clean with the perfect temperature. Class size is small (limited to 4) and the instructor gave each student a lot of personal attentions. The other places I tried either have inexperienced instructors - Public pools usually hire high schoolers who are good swimmers, but have very little teaching experience - Unfortunately being able to do something is completely different from being able to teach others how to do it. Gym and athletic clubs have highly experienced instructors, but they also demand expensive monthly memberships on top of the class fees. It'll be a waste of money for someone who's only trying to learn swimming. In comparison, Lake Union Swim Academy only charges an annual membership fee of $75. I'm so glad to have found this little gem. So far I've taken only one lesson and have seen great progress. My instructor Katie is very experienced and patient with beginners. I was struggling with floating on my back. It was a little over class time and she still helped me try one more time to boost my confidence. Now I am comfortable with this skill and can move on to learning backstrokes. I can't express my gratitude more. I am planning to take lessons at least once a week. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to learn swimming!
I had my first swim class, and I loved it! The instructor (Adriane Banks) has a lot of experience teaching people how to swim, and I really enjoyed the class. I definitely recommend for people all ages who want to learn how to swim or improve their swimming skills!
