What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the pool are mixed, highlighting both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, visitors report that children have a blast, lifeguards are plentiful (4 on duty), and the staff is friendly. There's also a nice section designed for toddlers and small children. However, several significant criticisms exist. The pool has a strict residency requirement for Newport News residents, which is not clearly signposted and has led to disappointment for non-residents. Other complaints include inconvenient hours, mandatory 15-minute breaks every hour, the deep end being less deep than before renovations, and excessive whistle-blowing/strict rules that limit fun. There's even a suggestion for voting in new Parks & Recreation leadership due to these issues.

My grandchildren had a blast! 4 lifeguards were on duty. You must be a resident of Newport News and they are very strict about registration. So have your ID ready.
The deep end is nowhere as deep as it used to be before they redid the pool; it has a nice section for toddlers and small children. The hours absolutely suck though, and every 15 minutes till the hour, you have to get out of the pool for those 15 minutes as if they need a break every 45 minutes I have to constantly test the water without you being in it. Please vote in the upcoming election so that we can get a new person in charge of the Parks and Recreations department.
Great pool staff is friendly
I drove all the way from Chesapeake with my niece. They would not let us swim because we were not Newport News residents. No signs stated this rule.
Worst community pool ever. You cant have fun with your kid here and they blow their whistle at every movement
