Pool, with 2 slides catering to older and younger kids.
As an outdoor public pool, the Maryland Swimming Pool is generally unheated. Its water temperature fluctuates with the ambient air temperature and sun exposure, making it cooler in the mornings and on cloudy days, and warmer during peak summer afternoons. Specific temperature readings are not typically published, as it is not a heated facility.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this Columbus public pool are predominantly negative, citing numerous issues with staff performance and facility management, despite the pool itself being described as clean and fun. Key complaints include a lack of staff training, aggressive and inconsistent rule enforcement by lifeguards and management, poor communication skills, and an inability to de-escalate situations. Specific incidents mentioned are lifeguards sleeping, incorrect break timings, selective enforcement of rules against children, and parents being chastised for not being in the water with their kids (a rule inconsistently applied). Operational problems include inaccurate opening hours, a cashless system causing inconvenience, a lack of food options, and one user being charged for a 3-year-old who should have free entry. While some positive remarks were made about swim instructors, the overwhelming sentiment is that staff behavior and inconsistent policies significantly detract from the pool experience, leading many to label it the 'worst Columbus public pool' they've visited.

Worst Columbus public pool I have been to. No one can tell time. We got there 3:00, break should have been over, but wasn’t till 6 after. The next break started at 3:40, should have been 3:45. Swimming didn’t resume till 4:22. Ask the life guard what was going on I was told it was lunch break, also everyone was removed from the water. Seen one life guard sleeping in his chair. The lifeguards are also very aggressive with the kids for no reason. They will get onto one kid for doing something, but let other kids do the same thing & not say anything. So far I’ve been to 4 different Columbus pools this year & this is the worst one. The others were really good. The pool itself is nice, but the people employed there ruined it. Also this was the only pool that made me empty my pockets before going in.
Pool is nice however, staff need more training and consistency. The last time I visit the pool I was chastised about not being with my kids in the pool because they are between the ages of 3-8. NO ONE IS IN THE POOL WITH THEIR KIDS LITERALLY EVER. I explained I was never told that so didn’t take it serious. Things escalated with the manager and I was asked to leave. Upon leaving and gathering my children and things I was bumbarded by the manager and security guard who only made the situation escalate more because they kept talking over me and it wasn’t necessary anyways because I was leaving like I was asked. I said some mean things to the manager however it’s all about how u relay a message. If your being aggressive your going to create aggression. Not to mention the Manager made her kid get out the pool and leave with her mom before she directed me again about kids needing to be in arms length if they are between 3-8. I felt attacked because the day prior the life guard in the slide was saying stairs stair when I was going down the slide with my son and she could have simply said the line starts at the stairs. Then my son was excited and ran to me and I talked to him after the life guard told him to turn around and walk. I told him to apologize for running etc and he said that’s the first time he ran so I didn’t see it as being that serious these are kids at the pool saying stop running is apart of the job. However there where kids doing flips and crab walks and running all along the pool on break and that’s where I felt the nit picking came in. Rules are selective and they are not consistent. They don’t know how to communicate and run a facility properly.AND YALL OWE ME MONEY BECAUSE IVE BEEN PAYING FOR MY 3 year old to get in all summer and like I thought 3 and under get in for free. Maybe a hire up management needs to be present more and some training especially as far as security goes. Security is in place to de escalate situations not worsen them.or to bully people. The whole situation could have been avoided if they let me leave in peace. And didn’t continue to yell over me when I was leaving. They said this “isn’t customer service it’s a pool”. As we all know being a security guard or manager requires customer service and good communication skills.
They don’t open until 4 so their information isn’t even correct. It’s always the urban pools who get the short end of the stick for the kids summer activities. I hate that for our communities.
My daughter attends swim lessons and she loves her instructors! This pool is clean and fun for those hot summer days!
Great place for the kids. However, cashless is inconvenient for young kids who worked for cash but can't spend it. No food for the kids. The library got snacks why not the pool? Mayor Ginther where you at????
