What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for this swim program are predominantly negative, with several key issues consistently raised. Many parents expressed dissatisfaction with the frequent switching of instructors, leading to a lack of consistency, personal connection (e.g., instructors not learning children's names), and perceived lack of student progress or even regression. Other instructor-related complaints included tardiness and disengagement. Significant safety concerns were highlighted, particularly regarding the absence or inattention of lifeguards and unsupervised children in the water. Poor communication, such as last-minute class cancellations and lack of teacher-parent dialogue, was also a common theme. Additionally, the facilities received criticism for inadequate changing rooms and limited showers. While a few reviews noted friendly staff or an engaging instructor, the overall sentiment points to operational inconsistencies and a disappointing experience for most.

My daughter began classes in June and I canceled her membership in October. I should have canceled sooner honestly. Her instructor was rarely punctual yet her classes ended on time. Her instructor never bothered to learn the names of the children in the classes. She would only say "Okay guys" repeatedly. I noticed in August that many children that started classes with my daughter eventually were removed by their parents due to the instructor's constant tardiness. No personal connection was shown and her instructor never seemed as if she wanted to be there. There were some occasions where my daughter's classes were canceled minutes before her classes were scheduled to begin. On one occasion, we returned home after we were told the chlorine levels were not fit for her lesson due to no employee checking prior to her class. We were told five minutes after her class was scheduled to take place. My daughter has shown more progress since starting classes at the New Rochelle YMCA. For the membership and classes I only paid $11 more than I paid at SafeSplash and honestly it was worth it! I will not be returning and have informed other parents who are looking for swim programs for their children to stay clear of that specific SafeSplash Pelham location and to try the YMCA in neighboring towns.
Nice location and staff is friendly. That's as far as it goes. The coaches are constantly switched around which doesn't allow for them to truly know students capabilities. Although repetition is good, encouraging a student to do more is also important for growth. My child mastered beginners level 1 but was never moved to the next level because of the constant switching around of staff. My child was in the same level for over 4 months with no progress made?! That is cause for concern. She regressed because of this and had no interest to get in the water with a new coach almost everytime. There is also no communication between teacher and parent. At this location in recent, we are not allowed to use the locker rooms to change our kids either! I'm done with place.
It was our first time doing swimming lessons with my 9 month old and it was a great experience! The instructor was very engaging and attentive. The entire staff that I spoke with from the initial inquiry to the day of the class was amazing! I’ve already started recommending to my friends and family.
I wouldn't recommend this location. My kids attended lessons here in the summer. One of the instructors were friendly, the other was unpleasant and not very encouraging and also didn't bother to learn my kids names. I re-enrolled them in January where they had a new coach that was inconsistent, the coaches were switched weekly. The last class they attended they had the life guard instructing the class and he didn't seem very comfortable teaching.
My son attended classes there for 2.5 months and I was shocked by the lack of safety for the kids. At least one time there was no lifeguard on site but most times there was a lifeguard that was paying zero attention to the kids. I repeatedly watched kids go into the water without any supervision (when the instructor works with one kid the other 3 kids are supposed to wait their turn, but instead of waiting their turn they start jumping in the water and going back and forth and NOONE is there to tell them otherwise or make sure that you know.. they don’t drown???). I found it disturbing. 3 stars for the instructors trying, zero stars for the safety and 1star for the facilities (there’s no changing rooms for swimmers just some camping tents and there’s 1 shower.. ONE??). Also in the 2.5 months my son had to switch instructors because of his instructor leaving the place. I would not go to this place again even if they paid me, but I am writing this in hopes that things improve
