Public outdoor pool with slides and diving boards, plus a toddler pool.
Specific pool temperatures for the Sergeant Hector I. Ayala Wheaton/Glenmont Outdoor Pool are not typically published. As an outdoor facility, its water temperature naturally fluctuates with ambient air temperatures and solar warming, and it is generally not heated to a precise fixed temperature.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the pool are mixed but lean positive, especially for families. Many highlight the excellent facilities, including a wide array of slides (big, small, and varied in difficulty), multiple pools of different depths (including deep areas for diving), two diving boards, and specific kid-friendly activities like 'gator crossing.' Reviewers appreciate its affordability, convenience, and the option to bring in outside food/drinks, along with ample shaded seating. However, significant negative feedback points to poor maintenance and cleanliness, with complaints about broken, dirty, or non-functional chairs, visibly dirty slides, and dilapidated equipment (e.g., broken lifeguard umbrellas, rotting benches), particularly concerning for an opening weekend. Operational issues like an unpopular 30-minute 'safety break' and inconsistent enforcement in lap lanes (making it unsuitable for serious lap swimming) were also mentioned. Despite these issues, many families and children had a great time and expressed a desire to return.

The pool is fine but don't go if you want to swim laps. The kids play in the lap lanes and the guards don't enforce the rules.
We had so much fun here. The kids didn't want to leave. You want to swim deep, they've got a huge pool for swimmers who want to dive. There's also the kids area with all the slides and fun stuff. Would definitely go back there.
Great facilities for family swimming : big and small slides, two diving boards, several pools of different depths, and lots of seating, including shaded areas. What would make it even better : not having a 30-minute "safety break". When everyone has to get out of the pool and keeping all play areas open (as one obstacle course was closed today, not sure why).
I live in Frederick County, I paid $15 as an out of county resident to come to this pool and I am just astonished at the conditions of the pool and equipment for opening weekend. The chairs are broken, dirty and seriously put out for use? Some are not even functional. The slides look absolutely dirty. And the lifeguards have broken umbrellas or in the case of this picture… its not even an umbrella but the skeleton. Look at this bench?? Looks like rotting wood! Please do better. I will definitely not be making that 45 min drive again. Also will be writing the county.
This was our first time visiting a public pool in MoCo and it was FANTASTIC! I cannot believe this place is so close and affordable. We had looked at joining local pool “clubs” that all had joining fees, waitlists, and boring pools. This place has at least 7 slides of varying height and difficulty starting with the very young. The “gator crossing” kept my older kids occupied a while. There are also 2 diving boards and 2 lap lanes. No concessions, but they don’t mind if you bring your own. We were allowed to bring in my toddler’s small inner tube but not our big ones. There are several large picnic tables in the shade. It is only open 3hrs/time (see pic) but that was just right for us. Will definitely be back and check out the other county pools!
