What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for Swampsville Mini Waterpark present a mixed bag of experiences. On the positive side, many praise the pool for being clean, having a nice view, plenty of shade and seating, and an awesome water slide. Lifeguards are consistently noted as kind, observant, and highly competent, ensuring safety. Some visitors appreciate the availability of swim sweaters for children, the constant breeze on hot days, and the overall pleasant staff. However, significant negative feedback includes inconsistent rules and disruptive nearby construction. A particularly concerning review details a frustrating and disheartening experience where a childcare group was denied entry due to an uncommunicated pre-registration requirement, despite prior calls. This incident led to allegations of discriminatory and racially motivated treatment, causing distress to children, and highlighting a lack of clear communication, poor customer service, and an unwelcoming atmosphere. Other criticisms include high entry fees ($20 per person) for non-members/non-residents, a first-come, first-serve policy for tables, and the absence of an on-site snack or food bar.

Great pool! Very clean, nice view, lots of shade and seating, kind lifeguards, etc. However, the rules seem to change each time I'm there and the residential construction occuring across the fence is a bit disruptive.
I recently attempted to bring my childcare center to Swampsville Mini Waterpark in Columbia, MD, and what should’ve been a fun summer outing turned into a frustrating and disheartening experience. Before our visit, I called twice and spoke with staff—including someone named Marcelo—to confirm that we could bring a group of 20 children and 9 adults. I asked about nonprofit group discounts, and while I was told there weren’t any, I was clearly informed that the park was open and available for our group. At no time during either conversation did anyone mention a required registration process for camp groups. However, as soon as we walked up, staff immediately contacted a supervisor, without any explanation or greeting—simply because we were a camp group. That alone raised red flags. We were then denied entry and told we had to pre-register, which was never communicated to us in either of our calls. We even tried to follow their guidelines on the spot by having the attending parents register children (since adults can register up to four), but they told us we couldn’t do that either. The entire experience felt discriminatory. We are a group of Black people, and it became obvious very quickly that we were not being welcomed the same way others might be. Staff were visibly uncomfortable, unaccommodating, and seemed to look for reasons to turn us away instead of finding a solution. Multiple adults in our group commented that the situation felt racially motivated. This was deeply upsetting—not just for us as adults, but especially for the children who were excited and looking forward to a day of fun. They walked away crying, which was heartbreaking. They deserved better. I do not recommend Swampsville Mini Waterpark. Their lack of clear communication, poor customer service, and the way they handled our arrival sends a clear message: this is not an inclusive space. And that’s unacceptable.
Great pool it seems to always be empty with plenty of space to swim and it also has a awesome water slide. The lifeguards on top of their game here
We( my Bonus-Mom, son, 5-year-old granddaughter, 9-year-old grandson, and me) went on one of the hottest days of this summer. We had a seat under some trees in the shade, and it felt like we were on an island. There was a constant breeze. I never experienced the kids having to leave the pool for adult swim, which was very nice. I like that they provided swimming sweaters for kids of different ages and sizes. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The lifeguards were very observant and checked the pool from their chairs above the pool, and then several lifeguards checked the pool on the ground by walking around it. Overall, I will go back again and recommend that you go enjoy this pool too!
I was here for my grandson 5th birthday party 🎉. First come, First serve basis to reserve a table. Non members of the association and non residents of Columbia had to pay $20 per person. No snacks or Food bar on site. I will not visit again.
