Modern facility with a 25-yard pool, plus lessons and fitness equipment.
The main 25-yard lap pool at Pikes Peak Athletics Training Center is generally maintained at 80-81 degrees Fahrenheit. A separate lesson pool is kept at a warmer temperature, typically around 88-90 degrees Fahrenheit.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Pikes Peak Athletics (PPA) receives a mix of highly positive and strongly negative feedback. Many reviewers commend the facility for its excellent instruction, warm pool, and engaging atmosphere, particularly for young children learning water safety and basic swimming skills. Instructors like Ms. Kate, Ms. Julia, Mrs. Katerina, Coach Anna, and Cade are frequently praised for their expertise, encouragement, and ability to help swimmers achieve personal bests and competitive success, even training with former Olympians and at high altitudes. The facility is often described as fostering a strong, family-like team environment, with helpful front desk staff. However, a significant number of negative reviews highlight concerns such as overcrowded lanes, high instructor turnover, predatory billing and refund policies, and instances of perceived horrible or uncaring instructors who allegedly failed to intervene when children were injured during practices due to lack of discipline and too many kids in one lane.

I really can't say enough positive things about PPATC. They have taught our little one to swim and it is the highlight of her week. I love that they focus on teaching kids how to safely get in and out of the pool. We've noticed that our daughter loves the water, but is also cautious. The pool is warm and the instructors have tons of toys to keep little kids engaged. So far we have had lessons with Ms. Kate, Ms. Julia, and Mrs. Katerina and all of them are fantastic. The front desk attendants are helpful, especially Knox.
Cant recommend this place enough. Our son learned basic water safety as an infant/toddler and wanted to learn to swim and this place has set the bar high. Ms. Julia is so good with our son. He is always excited to go to class and see her.
We were really disappointed with this. 3 adults in group lessons are able to work within half of a half of a lane to accommodate private lessons. High instructor turnover. Predatory billing and refund policies.
I can't say enough great things about Pikes Peak Athletics (PPA)! It is such a fantastic facility and the coaches are amazing! This is my children's third summer swimming at PPA and Coach Anna is amazing. She has been coaching my boys for the past three summers and my eldest joined swim team group 3 and my younger one joined group 2. This year, we were able to sign them up for the Competitive Swim Camp and the FUNdamentals Swim Camp. Both boys loved it. They got to meet and were coached by former olympians and both children were filmed to see how they could improve their dives, turns and strokes. The level of training extended to training at the Air Force Academy so that they could train at higher altitude. After training with PPA for three weeks, my boys swam at the Age Group Championships (formerly known as Junior Olympics) and then Far Western Championships in California. Both boys felt that the training they received at PPA really helped them refine their strokes and increased their endurance so that they were able to achieve Personal Bests at these more competitive meets. Thank you Anna for creating such a wonderful facility for children to train and be inspired! Not only do you work on providing them with the skills to improve their times, but your encouragement and support have helped grow the children into elite swimmers! Previous review: My boys are on a swim team San Francisco and they compete regular. Last year, during our summer vacation in Colorado, I had them swim at PPA. They were in Base Camp, PPA's pre-competitive group. They had a great time and really improved their strokes that it was a given that we would enroll them again this summer. I sent over their race times from their meets and they qualified for the Group 1 swim team. Their coaches Anna Heidinger and Cade Bains were terrific. Our boys were a little intimidated to be part of the team but Anna made them feel at ease and was so understanding about their need to adjust to the difference in altitude. I loved how the coaches knew all the children's names and worked with them outside of the pool first to give them clear instructions on how to improve their strokes and then helped them either improve their breathing or their technique while in the pool. I could tell after two weeks that their strokes were better as well as their breathing and timing. I would highly recommend Pikes Peak Athletics. They create such a great team environment. You could tell it felt more like a family than just a facility and I think that really makes a difference in children committing to swimming competitively. The people at the front desk like Joselyn, who were so kind to all the coaches like Anna, Cade and our previous coaches Quintin, Brian and Mr. Andrey (who didn't coach them but gave us great advice as parents), we couldn't have asked for a better swim experience. We felt very lucky to be part of the family. Thank you so much!
I wish I could give them 0....horrible instructors who don't care about swimmers....too many kids in one lane...during one of our practices, 2 kids got hurt and never got back to swimming again..."coaches" (if you can call them like that) did not do anything...just gave fist pumps to those kids who hurt others just because someone swims faster than they are.....no discipline...STAY AWAY FROM this place..we found another that really teach kids both discipline and how to swim different strokes...
