The lap pool at the YMCA at First & Main is typically maintained at a temperature of approximately 80-82°F (26.7-27.8°C). The warm water leisure pool is usually kept at a higher temperature, around 88-90°F (31.1-32.2°C), suitable for family recreation and therapy.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This YMCA location garners mixed feedback, highlighted by highly praised childcare facilities that are lauded for their cleanliness, attentive staff, and engaging environment for kids. Members appreciate the modern and updated gym equipment, the availability of cardio and weights without long waits, and the clean private shower facilities (though some note the need for better ventilation). The physical therapy services, particularly with Dan Fogarty, are strongly recommended for their effectiveness and ease of access. However, there are some drawbacks: the absence of a pool, occasional parking difficulties during peak hours, and a significant concern regarding a drastic decline in customer service. Issues cited include incorrect information, lack of follow-up on registrations, double-booked events, and billing errors that were not corrected, leading some long-term members to cancel their memberships.

I've been coming here since 2022 and this is my favorite YMCA in Colorado Springs! 🩷✨ I'm very reliant on gym daycare in order to be able to workout and this location have the best in the area. As far as child care facilities, I think there are other branches that have better stuff for to do for kids, but those one is the best for the reason that this seems to be the cleanest and have the least likely odds of your kid catching anything in the daycare and getting sick 🤔🦠 —not to mention the child care workers here are very attentive and sweet, and are great with the kids! My son loves coming here and spending a few hours in their daycare zone. As far as daycare hours, those are subject to change. They recently increased their daycare hours and expanded it to more than what they used to offer, so you'd have to check their website (or those pamphlets they hand out in the front desk) in order to get the full, updated details 🙏🏼 in general, YMCA allows for 2 and 1/2 hours of daycare use per day; hours of availability vary per location. As far as gym equipment, this location is the newest and most updated, with what looks to be the newer machines and weights on the floor compared to some of the other locations. Parking can be rough during busy hours (which I noticed to be in the mornings), but you can still find parking—just further out of the way 🚗 No pool in this YMCA location tho, sadly 🤔 but that's personally not a deal-breaker for me so it's not losing any stars for me for that.
I've been dropping my toddler off at the Learn & Play so I can work out 2 - 3x a week for a year and a half and we love it so much! I have access to all the cardio equipment and weights I could need, rarely having to wait for equipment, and my kid loves the childcare. This was the first form of childcare we used and I was so nervous at first, but the childcare staff is fantastic. She has fun and I trust that she's safe. I also love that they have private bathrooms with showers in lieu of locker rooms (and you constantly see staff cleaning them). My literal only complaint/request is that the bathrooms get foggy and hot, please add fans! You shower off the workout sweat only to get sticky again while getting dressed.
Started coming to this place because I heard great things. Front desk New girl(Misty) was a great help. She was friendly, polite and very helpful. She explained everything to us very clearly. All staff were nice and looked happy to be there. Recommended this place to everyone. Everything looks clean and nice. Thank you Misty for the great job!👍🏼
We had been members of the YMCA for over 10 years, and have noticed a drastic decline in customer service over the last couple years - specifically at this location. It’s unfortunate and ultimately lead us to cancelling our membership. Getting dates wrong for summer pauses, not calling back for sports registration issues, double booking birthday parties, over charging and unwilling to correct mistakes. It’s been rough. If you’re looking for a local gym, I’d highly recommend looking elsewhere. The Y is not what it used to be.
If you need physical therapy, this is the clinic to go. You can get appointments with Dan right away, and you don't have to jump through all the insurance hoops to see him. Whether you've had knee, hip, or shoulder surgery, etc. or are just stiff or in pain, I highly recommend you go see Dan Fogarty. He is the best physical therapist ever!
