This school has been quite disappointing. Some instructors are decent and work better than others. But we had no control because even though we chose to be in one instructor’s class, there’s no guarantee that the instructor would show up consistently for each class. The most frustrating aspect is the constant last minute cancellation, change of instructors, change of schedule, and school closure. We made a couple trips this summer only to realize that the school was closed. So, to us, the school is run roughly in all these regards, which prompted our say-goodbye decision. Jody seems trying her best to coordinate with the parents and help them navigate this challenge. However, it seems to be the overall school system (and instructors’ availabilities) that needs a tons of improvement.
My experience with British Swim School was incredibly disappointing. Communication from the staff was unprofessional and inappropriate — including sending sensitive, serious messages via text without any prior conversation or explanation. Instead of addressing concerns directly or seeking to understand what actually happened, the staff took drastic action without speaking to anyone involved at the time. There was also a lack of consistency with instructors, which created a difficult learning environment for our young child. Despite clearly expressed struggles, no support or encouragement was offered to help ease her into the water — which is especially troubling for a program that promotes itself as child-focused and supportive. When I attempted to reach out to leadership to resolve the situation, the owner never responded. Instead, I received a call from another representative who was unprofessional and dismissive, further escalating the issue rather than helping to find a solution. We had hoped for a safe, supportive, and communicative environment to help our child learn to swim. Unfortunately, what we experienced was the opposite. Would not recommend.
The instructors and staff at British Swim School (BSS) are so kind and caring. Their focus on safety and learning survival skills in the water are apparent in everything they do. I feel safer letting my 5 year old daughter anywhere near water because of BSS.
My daughter put my grandson in Thomas’ class a few times now for makeups. He is extremely inappropriate, has a very clear preference for girls. He will talk to the boys for about 5 seconds but have a full on conversations with any other student that is a girl. The way he gets close to the girls is concerning as well… no other instructor does as much as he does. He always puts his arms on their legs!!!! And don’t get me started on his way of “comforting” them, he does not need to be hugging and holding them from their bottom… AND PUTTING HIS FACE DIRECTLY IN THEIR FACE?! It’s ridiculous! Parents, if your child is in a class with Thomas, you must pay more attention. I promise you will see what I mean, I knew there was something off about him and that’s what it is.. It is a shame because most of the other instructors in this location are awesome like Michael, Anna, Paulina, Coby… and at Germantown they’re awesome as well… Ixel, Tikyra, Dilan,John.. and the manager Ayri isn’t weird!!! My family loves Ayri and Adrien dearly.
My daughter is very comfortable with all her instructors. They are very professional, funny, and absolutely friendly. Her favorite is Paulina. Although she enrolled with basic swimming knowledge, she requires more knowledge to become a safer swimmer. The facility is generally clean and the changing rooms are convenient, especially in the winter time. We couldn't be more happier as a family and she looks forward to her weekly lessons.
