Relaxed, clean outdoor pool, with slides for kids and a grassy area.
As an outdoor facility, the pools at Germantown Outdoor Pool are generally not heated to a specific temperature, and their warmth naturally fluctuates based on ambient weather conditions and sun exposure.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews overwhelmingly express strong dissatisfaction with the pool, noting a significant decline over the years. Key complaints include a substantial price increase for non-residents ($20), a strict no re-entry policy coupled with a permanently closed snack bar, and a severe lack of seating (30-40 chairs for ~300 people). Patrons frequently criticize lifeguards for being unprofessional, inattentive, rude to children, and failing to enforce rules, particularly regarding children playing in lap lanes. Management is described as unorganized, with inconsistent rule application and exaggerated, poorly communicated weather closure protocols that cause inconvenience. The new 1 PM opening time, a change from 11 AM, is also a major point of disappointment for families. While one reviewer found it a convenient and spacious option for Germantown residents, the prevailing sentiment is negative, with many stating they will not return.

First off I wanna start by saying this pool has declined so much of the years I e lived in Germantown since I was a baby and am not 24 years old this pool is a total rip off $20 for none residents when it used to be 8-12 for none resident when you come in the pool you can not leave or must pay again the snack bar has been closed since Covid-19 so when I come in I can’t leave but u all have no food here to feed my kids . Then there is never any seats in there they have maybe about 30-40 chairs for a pool that holds up to an around 300 people. The lifeguards here never do there job they stare off into space they are rude to the kids. I normally go swim laps when I’m here but they allow kids yo play in the lap lane jumping on people who are swimming laps when I was a kid you could never be in that lane unless you are swimming laps, supper dangerous an unprofessional they even took the guard chair down from the lap lane super unsafe. They expect you to sit in the grass but have ant houses everywhere in the grass. This pool has changed so bad over the years from someone who is a Germantown native unfortunately I WILL NEVER RETURN HERE. Gaithersburg community pool is now my new home !
A public community pool is mostly likely not the easiest place to manage. But it was very unorganized and the rules were not applied consistently or evenly. Today was our first time there so I'll update this review if we go back and it is better.
Lifeguards unprofessional and give off miserable energy lol. Here less than an hour, heard the smallest crackle of thunder (no rain or lighting) and less than a minute afterwards, they closed the pool. To which the female lifeguards started literally clapping, yelling and dancing in joy. Please get another job 🙏🏻 people come to pools to enjoy themselves.
The pool now opens at 1PM. It used to open at 11AM in previous summers. 1PM is so late in the day. This is extremely late in the day for parents with kids who want to go to the pool during the summer with their children. Very disappointed. I hope they change this.
It is an excellent option for those of us who live in Germantown and want some recreation time without going too far from home. It is big and wide enough not to be cramped with others. But, on rainy days I think they exaggerate with the hours, they make people wait more than an hour outside and nobody knows if they will open or not. I think they should review that protocol. If there are forecasts of rain, they don't open and that's it! And we don't waste our time.
